Here are the AP Classes I plan to take in my Junior Year:
AP Computer Science
AP English Language & Composition
Pre-Calculus Honors or AP Calculus AB(if I take Pre-Calculus next summer)
U.S History (regular)
AP Physics 1
Religious Studies
Spanish 3
Btw, next summer I plan to self study AP Physics 1, AP Computer Science(easy 5 since I’ll self study this in depth, programming is in my blood), and Pre-Calculus (if accepted to my school’s honors class) and Spanish 3 using duolingo and other good internet resources. In preparation for AP English, I’ll be reading a good list of non-fiction books (10-20) and a few good fiction books.
I’ll also be taking 2-3 classes next summer which are Geometry (the school placed me in Algebra 2 somehow), Chemistry, and possibly pre-calculus if I don’t get in the honors program for pre-calc. Geometry and Chemistry should meet the pre-requisites for AP Physics 1 if I get A’s in both classes.
Hmm. At my school, they don’t allow you to take two math classes in the summer. (But you say self study…are you sure that will be ok with all else you plan on doing? A real class would be better.) How are you doing in algebra 2? I would ask your guidance counselor if you are even allowed to take that many classes in summer school.
If not, I would suggest talking to your guidance consoler ASAP about trying to finish geometry over one semester if that’s how your school works. Precalculus is basically a combination of geometry and algebra 2 I have heard. That’s one reason why I decided to double up my math this year instead of taking geometry over the summer. Remember, quality not quantity!!
I’m not sure about other classes, but chemistry is supposed to be a lab class. How are you going to get that lab time? If your summer school course does not have lab time, that may hurt you in AP Chemistry (if you plan on taking that).
I have the same question about if taking precalculus over the summer is a good idea. PM me if you find any info!
