Hi,
My daughter has been accepted to Pitzer. I wanted to know how easy/hard it is to sign up for courses as the other colleges? If she wanted to take a class at Pomona, for example, would she be allowed in after the Pomona kids signed up or would she be considered an equal? She wants to major in Envir. Studies, Creative Writing and or International Relations. Which schools other than Pitzer are strong in those programs as well.
thanks!

my daughter is a sophomore at Pitzer and hasn’t had problems taking classes at the other colleges. The only exception was an econ class at CMC that was filled by CMC students first. She’s taken classes at CMC, Scripps and Pomona in psych and econ. It actually seems easier to get into classes on the other colleges than what I hear about trying to get into popular classes at UCs where lots of her friends are

Thanks sebuk. How does she like it? My daughter will be visiting on APril 17th. She fell in love w/school from afar, even w.her interview in Boston, she was so impressed w/the recent graduate who interviewed her and how much he adored the school!

From Pitzer’s website:
Can I take classes at the other Claremont Colleges?
Academic interchange among the undergraduate Colleges and The Claremont Graduate Institutions provides opportunities for curricular enrichment and active membership in the wider community of the Claremont Colleges. In general, first semester freshmen will register for all of their classes on their home campus. In the second semester and the sophomore year, they can take one course per semester off campus. Juniors and seniors are able to register for no more than one-half of their total program outside their college of residence.

I also know that if you want to concentrate in an area not offered at Pitzer, they will relax these rules quite a bit.
