5 day boarders

Anyone know about the 5 day boarder phenomenon? I've heard that some schools have a substantial percentage of 5 day boarder students making the campus feel somewhat more a ghost town on typical weekends for the 7 day boarders who remain. Is this really a concern? Has anyone picked up on this at a school? How does one know if a school is materially impacted by this?

Thanks,
Jon

This is offered as an option at some schools. It was definitely taken into consideration by our family as we preferred a high percentage of boarders and wanted to avoid the ghost town effect you mentioned. It is worth asking about at the schools you are interested in. That said, depending on the school, some empty out more than others on weekends, simply because a greater or lesser number of 7 day boarders go home a lot for weekends.

Yep, I’m applying for one school as a monday-saturday boarder, and another as a sunday night- saturday morning boarder :)
