Any thoughts on the pros and cons of a 5 day boarding? My son is looking at a school that is predominantly a day school (Nobles) but also has a small 5 day boarding program. We live far enough away from the school that while day is certainly an option, it would be nice not to have to commute every day. But he'd still be home on the weekends. Best of both worlds?

If you are willing to consider 5 day boarding, I’d suggest also considering schools which enroll local boarders and allow students to go home on weekends.

How large is the 5-day boarding program? If only a few of the students are 5-day boarders, that’s a very different experience than a boarding school at which 50% or more of the students board.

I’m 6 day boarding at a school about an hour away next year :)

One negative to think about is sports fixtures at the weekend, although if you are near enough to come for the day that isn’t an issue.
We chose it because I will get more time to spend with friends and giving me more time to work without the interruption of commuting. However, as said above, if few board, you won’t get the former at all.
