5 SAT subject tests.. how do you think about that?

My school has a huge asian population and I found out today that one of my asian friends is taking 4 SAT's and like 7 AP exams. He is taking only 4 AP classes actually, but he says he's "self studying" those other AP's....

Do you think that makes his chance of getting into top colleges better?
He isn't an athelete, but has quite impressive EC's.
His sister in south korea took 14 AP exams. I mean, don't you think that's crazy?
I'm so scared now.

It doesn't make his chances any better unless he 800's all of them, which would be pretty impressive. 14 AP exams isn't unheard of... I've taken 17, but it depends on your school system. Colleges know that and will look at whats offered vs. what you took.

OMG 17???? i suppose you went to a prep school...

Our school does not offer APs, and I didnt take any, but I'm taking 5 Subject tests...Would that look good ? I think I can get 800 in them...

Are they in different areas of study? (science, history, language, and math)

Math I and II physcis literature and some language...

There's no point to taking both the Math I and Math II exams. If your background has prepared you for Math II, colleges prefer you take it. Unless you are a homeschooler, I don't know of any schools that require more than 3 subject tests. Personally, I think the time spent studying for more than 3 SATIIs would be better spent on ECs and application essay writing.

The thing is that I signed for math I and I dont have time to get prepared for math II and it wont interfere with my essay writing, since I'll take it on january...

17 APs? why?
