Jeez that's a tough curve (this is from the first practise test in blue book). Are all math sections like that?

I missed exactly 4 on my SAT in October, and hardly pulled out a 710. So in your case, I'd say yeah!, 5 wrong could be less than 700. It also depends on what you miss. Grid-ins won't be as painful as muliple choice because of the guessing penalty.

I have a similar question -- hope you don't mind me posting it here:

Out of the 54 total math questions (all three sections combined), I believe I left seven blank on May 5th (a lot, I know). Will this give me a <700 score, too? :(

Probably yes, but I just wanted to check.

7 blank...yeah that'd be under 700...

Put it this way...minus one on some tests is 760-770. Granted, after you miss 2 or 3, the curve's slope decreases a bit, but yeah they need to distinguish between everybody through big score differentials I suppose.

deltaroyle- wrong, -1 is at worst 770, most of the time it's 780, and rarely 800

So what would seven omits out of 54 end up being score-wise (assuming I got everything else right)? 670ish?

I tried googling this (SAT raw score conversions, etc.) to no avail.

7 omits has historically been (consistantly on 3 past Sats) a 690 every time.

what do you guys think would equal a raw score of 41? Is that like a 630?

what is the chance of one omission being 800 ? the may 2007 was kinda hard and am hoping for -1 = 800.

"7 omits has historically been (consistantly on 3 past Sats) a 690 every time."

Wow, really? Sucks for me.

And all I ever wanted was to break 700 on math... ;_; Haha, oh well. Maybe I'll try the ACT and see if it's nicer to me.

in march i got 5 wrong (-6) and got a 690.

yeah i got 5 wrong too. <700 is not good news. I was aiming 800.

Greeeat, guess we'll all be getting 690s. I really don't like how its SO close to 700... but not quite there. :(

5 wrong (Jan, 07) = 700.

if you miss grid-ins, maybe a bit higher.

chronic---no, in fact, it has ranged from 760-800 on different tests..i have proof unfortunately lol

roxxy there's still hope! i got one wrong on Nov 2005, so 52.75/54 got me a 770 but i guess i had an easier exam compared to most. the PR book has a simple conversion chart or you can play with numbers at ineedapencil.com
