So my essay wants "suggested length 500 words minimum".Some people I talked to said make it closer to 500 words. Others say expand it. I have around 1000 words. I'm just worried about length because those who have been accepted already said reduce it. Any advice=]?

Try to shorten it down to ~750 words or so, I think.

Get it to 500 (or as close to it as you can).

I don't know about shortening it that much. Remember that 500 is a minimum here, when it's often a max. If you think your essay is honest, interesting, smooth, and pertinent, then I say write what you need. If you think you can trim some of it, go ahead. Be concise--don't be longwinded--but don't cut out important details about yourself, either.

Go for what works. If you absolutely love it at 1000 and can't find a thing to cut--after honestly looking for unnecessary parts--then leave it as it is. And good luck!

Yeah I agree...if you feel that the essay is great at 1000 then keep it 1000, just make sure you do not digress in the essay...I would try to take things out but if you like it at 1000 then keep it

lol my essay was 1500 words...soo Im not sure u want to listen to me

I think 1000 words is on the long side. However, if your only guideline is 500 words minimum, then I would say you are fine at 1000 words. General rule of thumb for app essays is 500-750 words.
