Hey guys. So I'm facing a huge problem with my CR section of the SAT. In every single test I've written, I've ALWAYS scored a 580, practice or actual.

I've written the SAT twice, first time I got a 1930 (M-760, W-590, R-580), and the second time I got a 2050 (M-760, W-710, R-580). I'll be rewriting in December, and I REALLY want my reading score to go up till around 700, coz that would bring my SAT superscore to 2170+ which looks really pleasing.

I have around 12 days to prepare, and I'm desperate to raise my score this time around. So do you have any good advice for me, to try to better my score?

Thanks a ton for your time :D

high five I was stuck at the 580 mark for ages but hard work and determination took my score to 800. I devoted a lot of time to my CR but since you have just 12 days, vocabulary should be your major priority. If you feel the you have decent vocabulary, practice tons of sections and try not to pick answers through inference. The answer is explicitly stated in the passage 99% of the times. And of coarse, pray for some good luck on the exam day.

I need someone to help me in the Critical reading section too!; I am 500 and I need to raise it for 650+ !
So if someone can truly help me with it I will be so appreciative! !

Please help and I dont care about the time I just need to know how to solve the passages effectively! !

I got no problems with the vocabulary !! And I recommend to study the 2 volumes of direct hits

But my problem is that I always miss up with passages espicially the paired ones !

I sent you a private message fady. Tell me if you have received it. Also, only do Word Smart I but do it well. Only do more words if have loads of time on hand.

do as many practice tests as you can in the next 12 days. I scored a 590 in CR and ended up bringing it to a 760 (just two more questions!!!) just by doing practice tests and studying vocab.

I agree with satman. Do as many practice tests and vocab. This may sound trite but it is the best strategy. I was at 510 cough but now am at 680. Still lots of room for improvement but with a bit more practice I intend to perfect my CR.

It is momentous that you take many practice tests and analyze your mistakes.

my sophomore psat cr was 58. my senior SAT cr from this November was 770 :)

what really helped me was looking at each passage as a whole. Don’t get bogged down on little details-- try to find the main ideas. This is why I usually skim the passage first to answer questions dealing w/the main tone or point, which I found were the trickiest

Thanks a ton, guys :D

Ok, I’ll get started on my practice tests right away. Any advice for vocabulary? My vocab is decent, but not as good as the SAT demands :/

There is only one way to improve your vocabulary and that is hard work. There are no substitutes to time spent doing Word Smart or other such word lists.

Thanks AltoLime, I will work on it. Hope I can raise it this time :)
