5th year of high school to raise gpa?

since my junior year, i useually get all As with one or two Bs. but, my freshman and sophmore year has a lot of Ds and low grades.

i am taking geometry currently, and i am supposed to be at alg 2 to get in college.

i am a half a credit behind in pe, and am taking an online course. if i don't do the online course, i don't have enough credits to graduate.

im thinking of not doing the pe course and fail to graduate. then i transfer to an online high school to retake a bunch of classes to raise my gpa. it will show colleges my ambition i would think. it will also give me time to raise my sat score and get a job to save up money for college.

i want to go to the university of washington so badly and have a great freshman and sophmore experience in the dorm rooms, etc. i have had not a great life and i would think that would be good for me.

i have taken ap classes and honor classes and have gotten two 3s on ap tests.

I think your best option is to graduate high school and going to community college for 2 years and transferring.

Transferring is a normal process that many students take advantage of. As a result, universities tend to have special engagements for newly arriving transfer students, mimicking the freshman and sophomore experience that non-transfers partake in.

Not graduating high school on purpose will not be regarded positively by anyone especially since it might be tempting to never finish high school at all.

Well, it would be better to talk to your guidance counselor about this one. Don’t purposely fail, but explain to them you’re not prepared to graduate. It might work, it might not, especially depending on whether you go to a private school or not.

And you could always go to community college, so you’re not wasting a year, and transferring.

on the transcript, it won’t appear that i am “purposely failing” because i do not have the required credits. my online classes are at byu, and it won’t show up on my transcript unless i submit it.

i am ok with wasting years. i have the rest of my life to work. as long as i am not 30 and still attending school, i am not in a rush to get an degree.

True, but if a college sees that you did well your last 2 years, and well in cc, then you’ll be fine. Besides, you’ll save money. Even though you’ll raise them, you might not get a decent scholarship, as opposed to a transfer, focusing on college grades. Why do you have to go there for 4 years?

i really want that 4 year college experience, it’s one of my dreams in a way.
