6/7 Year Programs

Which schools offer 6 or 7 year programs and how selective are they, respectively.

There are tons of 6-7 yr programs. I applied to two of them but both of them are in ohio. First 1 is Neoucom. You get a reserved seat at their med school and you do 2 yrs of undergrad at either u akron, youngstown or kent state. Its REALLY selective as in i got denied (WITHOUT an interview either). The acceptance rate is about 14%. 105 students are accepted out of a general 750-800. Really hard. Ohio students are given preference.

A lot of schools have the same type of method as i said above.

Another type is where you apply through dual admissions. Its still 8 yrs, 4 yrs undergrad and 4 yrs med, but you're garaunteed a spot in med school. I did this through John Carroll via Ucinn Med school. I got into JC but am still waiting to see if i got an interview for Ucinn. Out of the 50-60 kids that apply for the spot from JC, 22 get an interview and about 10-15 get the spot. You also need minimum requirements. Usually for most schools a 29/1300 and 3.7+ GPA. JC wanted a 27/1200 and 3.5+ so i barely made it lol.

ok, here's a list of the ones I know about:

Ohio NEUOCOM - I applied - rejected without interview. must've been my GPA...(1510 SAT, 3.5 unweighted GPA, but with extremely tough course selection)
UCF/USF - 7 year transfer program - rejected, extremely strict on a 3.7 unweighted GPA requirement, which ****es me off coz they don't care about course selection whatseover (they told me that on the phone after hours of arguing)
Rutgers BS/MD - 7 year - i'm waiting to hear from these guys
Penn State BS/MD - I'm waiting to hear from them too
George Washington University also has one...I was too lazy to apply
University of Miami has a 6 year one which is very selective, and an extremely rigorous program...
I think University of Albany has one too...it was some university in NY, not sure
Boston University has a 6/7 year program as well...
University of Florida has an accelerated program, but i don't know much about it. Apparently you start school there, and if you meet certain "requirements" you can start taking med-school classes in your junior year.

Those are all the ones I know...but there are a lot more out there.

renesselear polytechnic university in ny has one
and i think university of rochester has one

hey xerxces or however u spell your username. I got rejected from neoucom 2 without interview. It ****es me off cause they look at nothing that really matters for medicine. Its your GPA and SAT and thats pretty much it for the interview. Neoucom SUCKS though, it gets the job done about gettin an MD but its in ROOTSTOWN OHIO, the town is literally 2 miles long with a bunch of hicks and my high school is bigger than their entire compound, its pathetic.

umardarr,
I also applied to JCU. I have an interview on March 19. How about you, I havent heard from anyone else who applied to this program

University of Toledo (in Ohio) has a program that guarantees acceptance to MCO. I'm not sure how competitive it is. You still have to do a 4yr BS then 4 yr med school.

If you apply to Texas medical schools, the minimum requirement is 90 hours regardless whether you have a degree. I know doctors who completed their MD in 6 and 7 years.
