6 Colleges? Im confused.

Hmm perhaps Revelle is better suited for transfer science majors like me and arcanice?

You transfering Fall 2009 arcanice?

kkiiji

as a former argo resident in frosh revelle dorms, there is no lack of "social life" at revelle

if anything, you have quite a few students who get steamed at that title and go a little bit overboard, lol

but like any college, you still have kids who are devoted to studying 24/7..revelle just gets deemed 'nerd' beause there are lots people who generally are devoted to having really high standards (not that im saying other colleges dont)..there are your nerdy kids, but theres still a plethora of work hard play hard enthusiasts

That's good to hear since I'll hopefully be joining Revelle.

Well on second thought, since I'll either be off campus or in the new transfer dorms, I guess it wouldn't affect me either way. :D

All the rumors do sound exagerrated though.

haha yeah, people like to take a stereotype and blow it to the full degree, it makes them think they know something important, and allows for idle chitchat with other people who also believe the stereotypes so they can either gloat or make fun or whatever...i dunno, its kinda human nature i suppose, passively accepting common beliefs

and yeah being a transfer..colleges dont make much of a difference except for finding where you feel right, your little niche to complete the goals you have for yourself..i def like revelle and ill always have a fondness for it, so i guess it works for me and i picked my niche correctly

Yeah, I guess Revelle does benefit transfers more.
kkiiji: yep, I'm transferring Fall 2009. You too?
Whoa, they actually have transfer dorms available for us?? I always thought we'd have to find apartments off campus.

Yeah they're building new transfer dorms that are going to be finished Fall 2009! I don't think it's going to hold every single transfer student, but it should not be a problem if you apply early. I think apartments might be more expensive, but living on campus sounds extremely convenient.

i hope they get those done in time..they should, but you never know with uc construction timespans

and living on campus is verrry convenient, i kinda wish i was regents or something so i could stay on campus the whole time

there's always ihouse.

but, uh, living off campus is a really good thing.

What would be some benefits for living off campus?

let's put it this way - the ONLY pros of living on campus are 1) convenience and 2) maintenance issues get fixed quickly

What about how you don't really have to cook or anything? I guess that's under convenience.

I mean I've tried living in an apartment, perhaps it was my roommates but it really wasn't all that fun. My roommates weren't into upkeeping stuff so the kitchen and living room turned into a pigsty, it was just a horrible experience. I suppose sharing a room with someone could be a much worst experience, haven't really tried that yet.

ah not having to cook....

i dont think thats a plus haha, i wish i had a car to get to the store easier and buy fresh food so i could cook More...school food...talk about over priced and not good tasting, after about a month

and anyplace ive lived ive had those people, and it drives me insane..right now on our oncampus apt i have to pull and arm or a leg to get anyone to even take out the trash for me, often i go crazy and end up doing dishes at like 4am...the mess finally gets to me and give in and clean it up..no one will put new recycling bags out they just set everything on floor and it all just starts to stink...sigh rommates/apt mates...laazyy

and apartments off campus are actually cheaper not more expensive

Yeah I heard, also no downloading with torrents and stuff on campus. I don't know, I doubt I'd mind the food, I eat pretty much anything. This one time I lived off of slimfast and crappy bread for a few weeks, wasn't bad at all.

Now, describe this on campus food thing for me, is it really that bad? What kinda food do they have?

it just gets tiring..its like salads, wraps, pizza, frozen stuff, chicken, pastas, soups, burritos..depends which food place you go to the extent of their variety, but it all tastes the same to me now lol

Oh it's all good then. I could definitely get used to that. I guess it all comes down to the internet policy, the price, and sharing a room with strangers.

Prices are bad

Downloading is alright if you can find FTP file hosts

Sharing a room with strangers is basically a rite of passage

you're gonna have to live with strangers on campus anyways.

Omg.... its like a win-win situation... You probably wont even get into UCSD with a D and you'll pass out of spanish with 3 years with C or better... Basically if you get into the school, you pass out of Spanish?? haha.

Thank god im not in Revelle.
