6 Kings Pointers Graduate from Army Jump School

Got this email from KP:

The Army Team is very pleased to announce the culmination of both great individual efforts by few and great institutional collective efforts by many.

6 King’s Pointers graduated from the US Army’s Airborne School at Fort Benning Georgia. We understand it to be the first of its kind in 15 years of USMMA history.

The Army Team here at USMMA wants to sincerely thank the support of the faculty and staff at USMMA to allow Kings Pointers to partake in the Army’s, elite of the elite training, Army Airborne Infantry School. You have made an investment in current Midshipmen leadership and future leadership that will return many times over. The school and training is not just about jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. It trains on discipline, leadership, follower-ship, personal courage, and physical fitness. It serves as an internship for military experience. Highly desired attributes and values were tested and these Midshipmen will give back to all of our Armed Forces and Transportation Industry upon graduation.

Individually I would like to recognize the efforts of the below midshipmen for representing USMMA at the Army School well and excelling at the physical, mental, and leadership challenges. They were selected based upon GPA, 2 mile run time, Army Physical Fitness Test results, 5 mile run time, uniform inspection results, and 100 word letter of personal justification. Great Job!

We congratulate 1/c Midshipmen:

Go Navy Beat Army

KP10, :( be a good sport.

Seems pretty inappropriate for a Plebe to bildge upperclassmen who just accomplished something pretty cool for themselves and the Academy. Let's just hope they don't find out who you are. But there are plenty of pictures around so you better watch your back.

If you're so into Army Navy, why not just go to the Naval Academy?

BEAT COAST GUARD!

i have a question, why do i get **** from all the army ops kids and the marine ops kids about wanting to go navy swo? if they want to go army why not just go to west point

i'll tell you why...
because SWOs are typically the USNA grads that didn't know what they wanted to do. it's the most ambiguous officer job there is. i've known a lot of great SWOs, but personally i'd rather be kickin some tail then working on a frigate...
that's the mentality of all the ops kids.

from vangaurd to planegaurd...

why didnt you go to annapolis?

listen buddy, a lot of people know who you are, even the B Splitters that just got back from sea. and let me tell you that its not for good reasons. even kids in your class tell me about you. if i was you, id quickly get my **** together and not act like your something else cause you did jrotc

let's take a step back here my young men and try to develop a bit of support and respect for one another's chosen carreer path.......

and maybe recognize the difference between playful ribbing of one another and threats to harm another fellow student.

I am in wonder as to why anyone would choose KP except those that have a deep desire to live a life on the water. It seems that is what KP's education is targeted for. But there are plenty of people there that see it an avenue to other things and it seems to be.

That being said let me offer the distinct difference between the type of education you can get at KP and that you can not get at USNA. You can not get the type of education that prepares you for the coast gaurd licensure. And while you can be a SWO with your naval academy degree, you will not be able to be one in the capacity of someone that has this coveted license.

I am not certain what is ambigous over being an SWO over being an officer in another branch of service. It is perhaps just not your thing. But thank goodness we all have our "things" in life and they are a little bit different than anothers!!!

I don't quite understand why someone would go to a school that directly trains people to be either engineers or operators of great vessels when their goal is to be "kicking tail". But that is OK. Get the best education you can at KP and then continue to develop yourself to be the best officer you can be in whatever branch of service you choose.

The real cool thing about KP irregardless of its targeted education is that so many people do seem to be able to choose a different path with their degree than one would typically expect. And that you are interfacing with people that have the desire to go into the different branches of service. Use it as an opportunity to gain respect for your fellow comrades in other branches, it might come in real useful someday........

Lauddie, Istoday, KP10. Best wishes to all three of you on obviously different carreer paths. It is my hope that you can utilize this experience to respect and understand one another better rather than to drive animosity towards one another at school and in the professional setting. Our country more than other needs a unity in its service people.

Excuse me that last sentence I wrote should have read:

"our country more than ever needs a unity in its service people.

i just want to clear something up... first off i have no problem with any of the armed branches...infact one of my best friends just graduated army bootcamp and is now going through jump school for special forces... and i have another friend who just graduated marine bootcamp down at paris island. the millitary has a long tradition of playfully bashing the other services... and that was all i was mearly doing... and for you attacking me all i have to say is that there are alot of untrue rummors about me running arround... so in the future please judge some one once you have met them not not go off kp rummors. i truely am not trying to start anything with any one it may come acrost like that but im not...

you have a reputation, and you might want to lose it, all the "rumors" aside

i cant lose it with people like you bringing it up every moment why thank you

There is a time and place for everything. (Lesson provided by the Nuns at Assumption grade school in Seattle)

Right after a significant achievement has been recognized, might not be the best time or best place. Just a thought.

learning to keep your mouth shut and not talking back to upperclassmen is a start

Just to say this. Anytime is a good time to say Go NAVY beat ARMY.

but still congrat's to those who went and graduated. I'm glad to see the Academy is letting m/n do this again. I tried, but got denied because there had been a recent repelling accident at the academy and the admin at the time was shall we say "afraid of heights."

As to USMMA2009, KP10 and any other m/n on the thread. get over it, it's no big deal, keep what doesn't belong on the board away from the board.

"learning to keep your mouth shut and not talking back to upperclassmen is a start"

If you are referring to yourself as an "upperclassman" don't forget that you aren't that until 2/c year.
