6 year programs too rigorous?

Thank you very much, breaker746. Penn State/Jefferson is another program that I’m certainly considering.

And AznPride2012, I never really thought about that, and your asking of it also makes me curious. I would finish medical school when I’m 23 if I join a 6 year program. Would youth be looked down upon during residency matching?

I’ve also heard that UMKC and other 6 year med programs just aren’t attractive for great residency places.

heard UMKC produces, in general, primary care physicians

My cousin did a six-year program at Lehigh(which may or may not have been discontinued) Anyway, he said he was looked upon favorably for surgical residencies because of his young age. I guess they figured he was less likely to burn out? Anyway, now he is a very specialized surgeon.

hmm. awesome. i really want to go into surgery but i’m afraid that if i do the 6 year program at umkc i won’t get prestigious residency offers, which is what i really want.

an ortho surgeon i shadowed graduated from the umkc prog
