60% of Duke Students are from NC?

it was 15% last year, 14% before that, and they say that in admissions they "historically" have 15% of each class be from NC/SC. Definitely not 60%.</p>

<p>It looks like somebody just added the 15% together to get the 60%. I'd say if there were 60% of the students from anywhere it would be the northeast. Many North Carolinians don't consider Duke for that reason. We are transplants so we love it no matter where the kids come from!</p>

<p>NC residents do have a slight edge in applying to Duke, though.</p>

<p>yeah a lot of private schools like to give some preference to in-state. I think places like NYU, Hopkins, and Duke do something like that.</p>
