I am planning to apply at Rutgers University, hoping that I can make the 7 years medical program. Does anyone know what SAT scores and weighted GPA I need to make the first cut?

At least 700/each section.

TCNJ offers more number of seats with UMDNJ rather than Rutgers though.
I would advice you to check out last year's threads of official acceptances.

Regarding the GPA, most kids had unweighted GPA 3.8 to 4.0 and loads of ECs

But I would not discourage you from applying in case you don't meet one of the above mentioned criteria. Apply, do your best at the interview, and see how it goes.

Thanks. I have one more question. I don't know if these are great EC's, but I am in the science club, science bowl, and the Red Cross club.By the way, I also about a hundred volunteer hours at Princeton hospital.

Those are pretty good.

You may also look up posts from MDstudent and pipinghottofu, both of whom are in the NJMS 7 year program.

You will glean a lot of info there. Also look up Hydrogen3K's posts for info.

Hey !! i agree with prithvi. do u really need to have a 3.8 or higher unweighted GPA in order to get into the Rutgers 7 year medical program.

If our goal is to come into the medical seven year program than what classes are neccessary and important for us to take in high school ??

Hi All,

If your GPA is slightly below 3.8, no one is implying you shouldn't apply.

Whether you get in or not however, depends on various factors besides your GPA. Your SAT and SAT IIs, your LORs, your ECs, your AP scores, the number of APs you have completed, and how well you do at the interview all integrate a comprehensive picture of you the candidate for the Adcoms. Adcoms will compare you to your competition and determine the best candidate.

If you don't get into this 7-year program, will you be rejected or can still be considered for other programs/majors without a separated application process? TIA!

Ofcourse, you can get accepted into their BS program even if you do not get accepted in their BS/MD combined program.

Generally, the acceptance in their BS program precedes the acceptance to their 7 year combined program.

Inorder to get into Rutgers medical program either 7 year or anyother, what are the SAT's requirements? and if you are a high school student then what classes would u prefer for taking inorder to get accepted into rutgers program? and also is getting into Rutgers pharmacy harder than then getting accepted into rutgers medical program?

Generally SATs >=2200, SAT IIs generally >=750.

ECs should be medically related and GPA >=3.8 uw

Try to take AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Physics at the minimum. Score 4 or higher on APs.

Practice and work hard for it. I am not sure about Rutgers but TCNJ with UMDNJ offers about 40-42 acceptance letters and generally, about 22 matriculate.
ALL students accepted by TCNJ/UMDNJ program get a full tuition ride.

My application for 7 years Medical program from NJIT and Rutgers had been sent to UMDNJ. I wonder if anybody got interviews from UMDNJ and when. thanks.

this year the 09 class graduated and one the validicatorian whose reading sats werent so good as of 600 didnt get accepted into the rutgers accelerated medical program.

i am a junior and i have a 3.4 unweighted gpa with one ap class of history i took, i have taken honors english, and this coming september i willl be taking 2honors classes because i want to keep a high gpa. considering the fact that our 09 validictorian didnt even get accepted i think its really hard to get into the accelerated program at rutgers . any suggestions?

I’m a high school senior with a gpa of 3.25. Looking into medical programs or colleges are there any for me.
