76-221 Books You Should Have Read By Now

Does anybody know if 76-221 is considered as a writing course? or how much writing we need to do in the class? Thanks!

Yes, there are essays for the course - several long papers and a couple short ones. The amount of papers depends on who’s teaching it this semester. It is an English department course.

oh I see…what about freshman seminar? is that a writing course as well? :)

Yep! All seminars have essay requirements.

do you know how many essays? like 80% writing? thanks again =D

Depends on the topic. If you take like a statistics seminar, you’ll probably have to write comparatively few papers vs. something like “The Faust Legend” or “Medieval Lit”. My friend in Russian History seminar had to write an essay every week, while in my Scifi And Philosophy seminar I only had to write three papers and a one-page double spaced journal entry due each class. Each seminar is a bit different so there is no rule or percentage of papers that you will have to write.
