Two wrong in math should have been 760, I think.

ok, so if two wrong should be a 760… what do i do? did anyone else get two math questions wrong who can confirm that it wasn’t a 740?

2 wrong should be 760, for sure.

and cuz, i read somewhere that 2 questions wrong is -.5, right? but apparently they round this up, not down to -1. so it should def be 760.

so again, I have a 740 with 2 wrong… what action should i take?

I would call CB about it if it really shows you with just two wrong.

II just looked at my score report for the umpteenth time, and it still says that i got 2 questions wrong. ahhhhhhhhh. so i emailed collegeboard and i got an automated response. so time to wade through tape

Good luck. Let us know what you find out.

i missed 6 questions total and got 2290

well…what can i say??..scoring in the 2300s is TOUGH and probably 5 questions wrong max. and no this test isn’t biased.

if -6 is 2290, -7 is definetly not 2240. thanks for confirmation

Not necessarily; a lot of it depends on the distribution. E.g., three wrong in math would take way more off a score than three wrong in CR.

But yes, if your report is showing 740 in math with two wrong then there’s a problem.

If it matters, I got 6 wrong and scored 2310.

what was your distribution 112358?

Two wrong CR –> 790
Four wrong math –> 720
Zero wrong writing –> 800

In math, at least two of my incorrect answers were grid-ins so I didn’t suffer from the guessing penalty.

if two wrong is a 790, is it wierd that 3 wrong is a 750?

Yes, except three wrong actually becomes four wrong when you factor in the .25 penalty for each incorrect answer. Had you omitted one and missed two, you would have had a 770.

I got 8 wrong and a 2210, but I did poorly on the essay, 8.

I think we are forgetting how the curves work. If a lot of people do well on a certain section, it will have a rougher curve. So while the test might not have seemed easy, it technically was since a lot of people did better on this particular test. That is why a -7 would give 2240 because if a lot of people did well you can miss less and still get an 800. If you missed 7 on a harder test you could get a 2370, but since you missed that many on a harder test you actually improved your ability to take the test. So if you missed two on the math, you could theoretically get a 740 or below if an abnormal amount of people on that day only missed one or zero.

freaking ughhhhhhh!!! 1 question wrong on cr is -40 points??? that is RIDICULOUS!! if i got 1 more question right on cr, my composite would have been 2330 the heck!! collegeboard what is your problem??? =/
and ohhh i’ve NEVER hated that guessing penalty THIS much!! because i still would have gotten above 2300 if i hadn’t gotten one more cr reading question right but just left one blank. ugh ughughgugh fuuuu

The curve is not determined by how well the particular testing group does; it’s predetermined based on the objective difficulty of the test.
