<p>You can get a dean’s permission to stay longer than 8 semesters. I don’t know how this works though.</p>
<p>It’s not hard to get a 9th semester if it has to do with completing a major - like if you changed majors or added a double major mid-way through your four years. It’s even possible to get a 10th semester, but this is much more difficult.</p>

<p>It is relatively easy to do so. The limit was really put in place because there was such a prevalence of 5th year seniors at one point that it was difficult for people to get the classes they wanted/needed.</p>
