Well the title pretty much speaks for itself.

I have been learning French for the past six years, I've passed the Dalf C1, travelled to France, done lots of activities in French [ theatre club in french, french association etc. ]. I have also been awarded some prizes in some French-relatec contests [ National Olympiad, Translation Contests etc.]
I like it a lot, but I am pretty much tired of it. I mean ... 6 yrs.

Now, I have to choose between studying French lit and picking up German.

[I'm a rising Junior, so my choices are either to continue with French for 2 more yrs, either to do German for 2 yrs].

Don’t do what would look better to admission officers. They don’t want that, they want you to do what you want to do when it comes to course selection.

Six years is a REALLY long time to study one language! I don’t think anyone would object to you taking German-especially because being trilingual is probably a lot more interesting than being bilingual.

An admissions officer is going to look at your transcript – see you took either 6 or 8 years, and then glance to the next line in a millisecond. And you want to make your decision on studying German for that circumstance? Really?

I know I shouldn’t worry so much about it … but right now I’m pretty torn between German and French.
Normally I would have chosen German but I have the posibility of taking a really difficult course in French Literature (which really appeals to me) and French has always been a strong subject, so I also thought about having a good rec letter … yeah, obsessed I know.

However, the main problem is that on one hand I’m like - screw French, I wanna learn sth else (btw, I’m not an English-native, so German would be my 4th language) - and on the other hand I’m like - I wanna study literature, screw grammar&vocab rules.
