800 in subject test = a 4 ?????

I just got my AP World History results back. I was so confident I was going to get a 5 but I got a 4. What makes my results more unexpected is that I got an 800 on the SAT Subject test. Last year I was confident i got a 5 on the AP Human test but I got a 4. On practice tests, I always got a 5. I do not understand what i am doing wrong. Most of you are thinking maybe my writing, but I got 7s or above on most of my essays. Help !!

How do you know you got 7’s or more on your essays? If your evaluation is based on grades in class, your teacher may be too lenient.

The two tests are a little bit different. I noticed that only the top sat scores usually corralate with ap world scores. The sat is similar but tests in a different way. They like to pack in as much detail so it has alot of memorization. You cant really think your way out to find an answer. On the AP, its more critical thinking cause you can think about the answer. AP tests the broader themes and connections which are in my opinoin are more important.

And yeah, it sucks when you get a score you dont want but you gotta move on.

…
What do you want us to do?

Maybe you bombed the FRQs.

How do you know you got a 5 on practice tests?

No AP review book I know of gives you a conversion table to find your actual AP score (from 1-5).

^

Perhaps he took a released AP test and graded his FRQs by himself.

I’m sorry you did not get the score you wanted, but _____ happens. Maybe you just had a bad day. Does your prospective school at least give you credit for a 4?

Yes, our teacher gave us a released ap test and i easily got a 5. i didn’t bomb the essays because the teacher the day before guessed two of the topics tested and i knew them by heart. i know i did awesome in them. i guess im just not good at ap tests.

Well, you can gamble $25 and have your test rescored

You’re not bad at AP tests. A 4 is not the best score, but it’s not bad. You’ll probably get credit. If a 4 is bad, then what is a 3 (which is considered “passing”)?

Your teacher probably graded your essays poorly. The multiple choice on the World History Ap test was really easy this year, so it was probably the free response. Maybe you drifted from the question and didn’t really answer it? But btw, the SAT II World History is also really easy, easier imo than the ap test.

eh thanks to those who answered but i am over it now. i want to major in engineering so history is not my best subject.

Hey, I’m going into engineering. However, I took more AP social studies tests than math and science tests.

Also, it’s nice that you have high expectations for yourself.

can anyone tell me what are the possibilities that they could re-score to a 5 from a 4.

Same thing happened to me in US History. I’m not happyabout it, to say the least.
