800 on Dec. SAT CR?

Hey, I was wondering what the curve to get a 800 usually is on the NEW Sat? Can you miss 3 and still get a 800? On the old SAT it seems like you can miss as much as 4-6 and still get a 800!!!

I'm currently averaging about 3 errors per section. My scaled score according to the Blue Book is 630-710. Can anyone give me a more definitive answer? I usually miss about 1-2 SCs and 1-2 Passage-Based per section. However, I'm getting better at passages. I just took all the passage-based reading out of Test 4 (November 1996, 10 RS 3rd Ed.) and missed 0!

If I miss 0-2 passage-based and 1-2 SC on the entire test...do I have a shot at an 800?

I'm getting the hang of passage-based but does anyone have anymore tips? Some things I've heard is to really get involved with the reading so you truly understand, go with the more vague answer, look for restatments etc. Anymore?

to get 800, u can only miss 1 or nothing.

i missed 8 on the CR section and got 690 =[

So my missing 9 is about 670-680?

yup, most likely.

you have to practice so that you miss 0.

Are you sure about that 4-6 wrong -> 800 on the old one? I thought it was more like 1- maybe 2 -> 800 and it's all downhill from there. I'm pretty sure the new SAT is the same.

Some suggestions:

For those with good vocabularies, sentence completions are free points. Now's a little late to start memorizing vocabulary, but if you have time it might be a good idea.

I don't have any suggestions for passage-based reading besides practice and find what works for you.

sentence completions are easy dawg.

i memorized about 500 words and im doing well!

For the new SAT typically -2 has been 800. Sometimes it is only -1. Keep in mind though once you miss 3 you lose an extra point, hence scores go down to about 760-770 (w/ the next question wrong being 740-750).

I missed 2 and got 800.

and I missed 2 and got a 790.

Every test is different.
