christiansoldier: I hope your post#19 was meant as a sarcastic joke. If not, then ditto to post#20.

Woah, I dont know if you guys are being fair to christiansoldier. If he got a 2380 and he thought he could get a prefect 2400, then why not go for it? I certainly would, but alas I only got a 2340 and dont think taking it again would improve my score. The point is that some people want to see if they “really could do it” and on paper a 2400 has got to look alot better than a 2380. I mean anything from a 2300-2390 looks the same to me at least…but there is something much more outstanding about a 2400.

My post was meant as what I actually did. I wasn’t about to spend all that time studying to get a 2400 and then not get a 2400. I don’t think it’s fair if they’re going to punish me for being persistent. I don’t see what’s wrong with wanting to do better and push yourself. If a runner got second in a big race, who wouldn’t expect him to go back as soon as he could and try to get first? And is a footrace where you run around a track in circles any more meaningful than the SAT?

And I definitely agree with Rtgrove. Those are my thoughts exactly.

800 writing and 11 essay here
sticks tongue out

^
The above post is the prime example of my previous statement.

^sorry, what was your previous statement?

^
to summarize, that some (but not all) above-average students who make use of College Confidential do so in order to compare themselves to others and to, essentially, boost their self-confidence and self-assurance within the fickle college admissions process.

In more simple terms, “to show off.”

well someone posting about an 800 w and 10 e while i have 800 w and 11 e is like sticking bacon in front of a pig

What a quaint imagery.

@ OP
In any case, OP, I hope your SATs went well today :)

hi, and i apologise in advance to whitecadillac, i dont mean to hijack your thread, but i just want to confirm something that someone mentioned here already:
what, so if you have good essays in your app, colleges wont care about your writing score?!!?!
dont shoot me down seattlejy, im not here to get ‘wow’ comments either –>
see, im retaking SAT1 in december to up my writing score, but after reading this thread im wondering if theres any point.
ive sat the SAT twice already. (pun NOT intended)
my CR was 800 then 770, so i think thats fine,
and my maths went from 690 to 770, so im not fussed about that either.
BUT my writing only improved 10points to 690.
but the thing is, im actually pretty good at writing, ive won a state essay-writing comp and one international one. so im hoping my common app essays will be pretty good too.
so should i bother retaking SAT just to up my writing score?

690 writing here too goin for the big 800 in jan

math and cr are gay
i have 600 in both lol

^math and cr are gay? really?

you’ll be fine. I got an 800 in writing with a 10 essay score and still got in.

you should know by now that nothing make or breaks the application, most definitely not your SAT writing score

A little off topic: Tres, are you LGBT? I did this Red Cross volunteering over sumer and I was friends with someone who was gay that flipped every time anyone used that word out of context in a negative fashion, lol. You don’t have to answer the question if it’s personal - was just throwing it out there.

no, i’m decidedly straight, but i found it amusing that “gay” was used to describe particular subsections of the SAT. i rarely see that adjective used on this site.
