SAT Writing

I got a mediocre SAT score- 2230 - but my writing score was extra low.
the exact breakdown was

CR 800
math 750
writing 680 T___T

idk why that happened, but does it matter a lot that my writing section is that low?

i can't re-take the SAT. i guess i'm just worried and trying to make myself feel better...?
also, when it says yale will look at the sat essay for admissions, does that mean that they're getting the actual essay or they just get the score?

thanks in advance:)

Bump (What does Bump actually means?)
I’m curious to know too, for different reasons! I hear that colleges don’t consider writing as much, and that was the section I got an 800 in. Oh for Newmercy I think your score is great, its a very very respectable 1550. If you don’t plan on retaking the test then i would just show your writing skills on your essays.

Why can’t you retake?

your score is solid. My son’s application was 2 years ago and I thought Yale admins said the the writing wasn’t as important as reading & math. But then again, they made a point that the scores are only a small part of the entire application. He had a slightly lower score and got in.

Hunt- i already submitted my application

thank you, that makes me feel a little bit better
yeah, i was okay with my score, personally i’m satisfied with it (although it wouldn’t have hurt to have been a little higher…haha) but i know some people consider 2250+ the minimum for schools like yale

my writing section is just below the average scores, and i thought that would affect it a little, but i guess it wouldn’t as much

also- does the fact that yale sees all of your scores (ever subject test, etc.) hurt you? or will they not care as much if you have two okay subject tests? i took four subject tests, my counselor in may told me to just take the two extra because i’d been taking the ap exams, but the scores didn’t come out so well.
could that hurt my application?
