9th grade SAT critical reading and grammar score

Is a 650 bad for a 9th grader taking the Reading portion of SAT. I do multiple tests and keep on getting around 650 but can’t hit 700 :frowning:

Bragging? Not bad for a 9th grader. Why do you think otherwise?

Not bragging more like the opposite. I’m worried it’s a bad score considering I might take the PSAT10 in sophomore year and then the SAT in junior year. I want to get into Ivy League too. Math is my stronger end. I can get a 700+ there

Ivy League athletic conference aspirant. Figures.

You have two years to prepare and get your scores up for the PSAT that could get you to be a NMF. And you currently have a solid score that you definitely get up to 700+ in two years. You just have to continue studying and using workbooks and websites to read up on tips to improve your score. You could also consider getting a tutor but they can be expensive, and I feel like since you have all this time you are more than capable of just studying and taking practice tests to raise your score. Just don’t put to much pressure on yourself. Study everyday for 15 minutes and you’ll see progress after a week or so.

For the PSAT to matter you have to take it as a junior. Just stop prepping for now. Without fail, everytime I see kids who start stressing about the tests so far from the date, these are the kids who are freaking out come senior year. Don’t freak out. If you want to spend some of your high school years actaully enjoying yourself every now and then, cut yourself some slack now. There is literally zero reason for you to be doing any of this at the moment.

generally speaking, 650 isn’t a good score for an Ivy League Aspirant. However, I won’t tell you to stop prepping like the User above me said. However, lay down a little. Do like 10-30 minutes of SAT prep per day. This way you won’t completely stop prepping. You are still like 2-3 years away for the SAT/PSAT to actually count. Do like 10-30 minutes a day till you get to the point(end of 10th) where you can start rigorously prepping for the SAT(however this 30 minutes a day will make you prepared by the time you get to that stage).

This is what I believe.
