*early application

CCers are afraid to comment on my chances..

this can't be good

Work on raising your GPA and rank, although it is pretty solid as it is.
You have impressive SAT scores on m, v, and w, but work on raising your writing score.
You've shown quite a lot of dedication in a few ares (i.e. history research for 6 years, visual arts, etc.) instead of a huge list of "memberships" in countless clubs, and it looks great that you've started a club on your own. You're a very strong candidate for all of these schools.

Here's the Safety/Match/Reach breakdown:

UChicago: M/R
Sarah Lawrence (ED): S --send your test scores anyway, a perfect score in m and v are both rare .
Vassar: M
Davidson: M
Wesleyan: M
BU: S
Loyola-Chicago: S

Keep up the great work!

wait i forgot to mention that the 800, 800, and 730 were my SAT II scores-sorry.

thanks for being the first to respond!

oh whoops...I thought you meant 800 math, 800 verbal and 730 SAT II writing. What did you get on the PSATs if you haven't taken the SATs yet? They're sometimes a good indicator of how well you'd do (although not for me--my first PSAT was a 990 and my first-time SAT was a 1320).

oh i did not perform as well as i hoped on the PSAT. i'm very discrete about my PSAT scores but they were high enough to merit brochures from several ivies (albeit, they didn't require too high of a score). they need as many applications as they can get.

if you don't mind me asking, what explains the high jump from your PSAT to your actual SAT scores?

I'm sorry, I left out one very important fact! :p

On my 10th grade PSAT I got a 990 (M: 440, V:550). I was freaking devastated. I begain to cry in homeroom when I received the score report. I mean, my brother got a 1600 and was just accepted early action to Harvard at the point (December 13, 2002 was the exact day he found out, I think), and his dumb little sister couldn't break a 1000! I thought I would end up at University of Phoenix-Online or somethin like that.

Then, a year later when I took the PSAT in 11th grade, I got an 1140 (M:490, V:650). Not great, but not terrible.

When I took the SAT in Jan. '04 (with help of a relatively affordable prep course) I got a 1320 (M:570, V:750). I took the SAT several times therafter, and my highest math + highest verbal ended up being 1350 (M:600, V:750).

I wasn't thrilled by the end result, but I'm glad a made some significant gains. I guess I'll have to accept the fact that I suck at math. :(

By the way, what are you interested in studying in college? Your interests and aspirations should match the programs and opportunities offered by your prospective schools. At Sarah Lawrence you can practically tailor-make your own program/major, so that wouldn't matter. What would be you're weighted GPA? And since you have a fine arts talent, have you started working on your portfolio yet?
Best of luck!

I think you have a good chnace at all and Vassar will appreciate you are a male. Chicago, however, is extremely competetive so I'd say its quite a stretch.
