hey, I'm currently a freshman and a GT for ILR.

I had a good first and second semester.

My first semester GPA was 3.92
My second semester MIDTERM report was A-, A-, B+, B, B

buuutt....I just got a couple C+'s AFTER I submitted my midterm report, and I feel like my final college transcript would have either a C+ or a B-.

Would that automatically disqualify me even though I passed both the first semester and second semester midterm requirements?

Also, I passed my current college's housing and course registration deadlines because I was so confident I would qualify.

Help? Based on past experience, what happens when someone is 'accepted' through the GT, but then messed up on the final transcript?

well, i think the best thing to do is to call Ian and ask him...i'm sure he'll be able to tell u!!!! i'm actually not really sure about how strict they are with the grade thing, but it has generally been said nothing below a B... do contact Ian for sure GL
i'm also an ILR GT :)

Along with what Acerbic said, also:
Continue working hard and also explain to your professor your GT offer. Your professor should understand. Good luck!

When do we get the acceptances? After midterm report? Or after the final transcripts?

i think acceptance is after midterm report.....which is my question, if we're accepted after midterm, and then screw up the final do they revoke it?

yeah...not sure...i already sent in my midterm and the online thing shows that i have everything in...but it says that i should check back after April 9th! have you received anything yet?

I'd have a nice talk w/ ur professors. Say u'll do anything...extra work, extra credit, study one-on-one w/ the teacher, get a tudor, study harder, ect... Just make them understand u r really committed and if u dont get above a B ur completely screwed. GL!

Well…I have said before, but weep/ beg if you must lol JK
OK random thought…have any of ur professors sort of turned against you after hearing about the whole GT thing? Cuz I have a feeling my English prof. (who graduated for Columbia as he told me lol) has become even more critical of my work…which is not a good thing lol he challenges me in class discussions and I feel like he has become sooo overly particular…not good ;( hope he grades fairly...hehehe (ps I’m incredibly nervous about my paper for tomorrow…ahhhh)

^ My Macro professor (Columbia grad too) literally stops the class to answer my questions and has become too demanding with the work I submit. No fair.

Also, my English teacher now expects me to answer/give insight on everything she asks. She's pressuring me with her piercing stare. And lets not mention the writing assignments.

2 of my professors are grad students and I think they're looking to network and stuff.....they've been treating me better ever since I told them of cornell.....one time, I am SURE I missed a point in my paper and the guy gave me a 100!. I was like what??

One of my professors literally stopped an entire class to answer my question for 15 minutes and then even apologized if I find his response 'inadequate'.

haha, its actually HELPED me..... A lot

oh yeah, and to add to this, i asked one of my professors to sign a midterm report right? Well, I sent him an email first and he emailed me back with FOUR FULL PARAGRAPHS explaining how he was so sorry for not emailing me back sooner (he emailed me back the third day LOLOL) and went on to apologize that he was so slow in answering my email (HE RESPONDED ON THE THIRD DAY!!!) Then in the final paragraph he went on to congradulate me on such a feat in getting into cornell.

Oh yeah…my English teacher has other issues, so I don’t think my problems purely stem from him knowing about Cornell…but in general my teachers have become extremely nice…hahaha…my history teacher didn’t even check his grade book…he just gave me my midterm grade…that’s crazy! and one of my teachers basically looks at me when ever he asks a question, seriously wired lol he actually asks, “so what do you think?” whenever we have discussions, I feel a bit guilty :) but still lovin’ it!

HAH i wish that were the case with me. I'm a GT for ILR too, and now that all my professors know (after they signed my midterm reports) they feel like its open for discussion in front of the whole class. One of my professors asked me what my major was in front of the entire class, then laughed when i said "Industrial and Labor Relations"

lol ya whenever i tell people my major they laugh and go "wow...ur on ur way up". hahah I think the long name makes it sound super advanced or something. When I was in the study lounge yesterday a kid was like "wow...so now I know who the future president is". lol oy veh

figgy: since it seems that you are basically on CC live at present, i'm procrastinating too...tell me a funny story to pass the time whilst i write my paper

hahaha. OK here's 2 great things coming up in my life. A WEEK off for Easter vacation starting today!!! YAAA Catholic College! lol

And this is amazing. My birthday is Tuesday the 24th and yesterday I found out...get this...THERE ARE NO CLASSES WEDNESDAY! I'm gonna get soooo...happy...Tuesday night! lmao. I'm sooo excited. And on the 19th Talib Kweli and Sugarcult are coming to perform. Then Saturday there is a mixer which I have SOOOO much fun at. I seriously CANNOT wait for that five day period of time to happen. It is going to be some of the most fun I've had up at college. Campo starts checking bags on Wednesday BEFORE the spring weekend so we r gonna stock up in advance hahaha. It's gonna be crazy, our fridges r gonna overflow. I'm sooo excited tho. Listening to Talib Kweli and SugarCult every day and getting more and more excited. It's gonna be sooooo fun! You having a spring weekend?

K off to class, sry lol (My teacher isn't even gonna be there but she's making us stay on campus to watch a 1/2 n hour movie n then she's quizing us on it to make sure we stayed! Biznitch! lol)

lol well it sounds like you are having a fun time. you seem to be a pretty excited kid, or at least that's what i gather from all of your posts, especially this one. thanks for the story it definitely amused me. lata playa

yeah, my teacher doesn't mean it in a good way, i think he wants me to think i don't know what i'm getting myself into. however, he's a religion teacher, so i don't think he gets to really judge my choice of major.
