a call from Carolina

Just a few minutes ago, I got a call from a freshman telling me that admissions decisions will be posted online Sunday... and then she said that they'd be calling me a few more times in the next 3-4 weeks. I asked if she knew anything about my decision and she said no, but why would they call me after I get rejected?

Anyone else get a call? I talked to Betty...

I got a call in december from a freshman just wanting to know how the application process was going. My sister got a similar call when she applied and she got in, so hopefully this is a good sign!

…this is really starting to just get on my nerves for some reason. So it’s like they just leave the rest of the people who are anxious in the dust and just call like a few people…
They are really doing a GREAT job on easing the anxiety of this…****

I got a call today too! She told me that she is a student at UNC and that decisions will be posted Sunday on my portal. Then she asked me if I had any questions and will call me again in the future.

Oh man I know this is silly but I got a call this afternoon and I don’t recognize the number or area code; didn’t leave a message. Could someone pm the number that called you or let me pm you to see if it is the same number?

Thanks!!

I also hope it is a good sign, but realistically, I think it’s just routine for all applicants.

Corey91, I will PM you tomorrow with the # tomorrow (I’m in bed right now haha)

Come on. Stop being stupid. If they call you to let you know when they’re letting you know, and then saying they’ll call you again, you’re in. Though you shouldn’t be if this is too confusing for you.

That’s really bizarre, calling people I mean. I received a phone call back when I was unsure of EA or RD, and the girl was just like, “You started your application! Don’t forget the due date!” It was just awkward.

But Sunday is coming up fast, so just chill. Haha. It’ll be over soon.

I’ve just never heard of “likely phone calls.” I was wondering if everyone got them or just the “impressive” applicants, although I wouldn’t call a 3.5 unweighted GPA impressive. I’m not stupid, just curious.

I received a call way back in December from a student there who just wanted to talk to me and see if I had any questions. She was really informative and said that she would be calling me every three weeks, but I haven’t received another phonecall…

I got the same call tonight. It just made me more anxious for Sunday!!

Guys, I got invited to the Shadow program and Scholarship day but have NOT received a call.

I don’t think the calls necessarily mean anything–they probably have a system that just randomly selects students for this.

Relax! Sunday will be here soon… with or without a call. :]

The student i was with on shadow day said the calls were no big deal. dont worry about it

Uh, probably shouldn’t post the number on the internet, and the area code looks off for a local number, no? (Shouldn’t it still be 919?)

^not if they’re OOS, and are calling from a cell phone they got in their home state.

NOT a good idea at all to post that here. And couldn’t you just have called the number to find out?

They called me from UNC’s number. The caller ID said “UNC Chapel Hill” and your number is from NY.

how do you delete a post

I got a call the other day too! It made me more anxious…I was watching American Idol when they called and wasn’t really thinking so I sounded pretty lame on the phone…I’m hoping that them telling us they’ll call every 3-4 weeks is a good sign! I should have asked when she asked for any questions if I got in…haha
