A Career in Sports Management

Alright so I posted this is the business major section, but I'd like to post it here also since there may be someone who can help me out.

Anyway, I'm here because I was wondering if anyone could help me with getting into Sports Management specifically becoming an agent. I understand that jobs like this are not for everyone and it is very hard to be successful especially during times like these but I am a very determined person and I believe I possess the skills to succeed.

But I could really use some help on things like good schools, and just any other tips that anyone could give me to get started in a career like this. I don't graduate high school until next year so I still have some time to do some research. I will admit I haven't really looked into anything until recently but I have been thinking about a job like this for quite some time.

All replies are appreciated.

If you actually want to become an agent, I wouldn’t major in sports management. I would get an undergrad degree in finance and then go to law school afterwards. I have a degree in Sports Management and there weren’t many classes I took that would help out with becoming an agent. Agents are lawyers who work in sports, they aren’t sport managers.

guy above is right. imo sports management is so concentrated and narrow of a degree that it probably is not worth it to get unless you already have another real degree.

like kwigs said about sports agents, the same principle may apply to front office of sports teams. i doubt any VPs of the washington redskins majored in sports management.
