A chance to get away

The thing I love about college confidential is it's a chance to get away from my stupid high school. Everyone in my school, even the bright kids, don't care much. It bothers me. It's just nice to communicate with people who care.

Anyone feel this way?

Everyone at my school thinks I'm obsessive about college and freaking out way too much. They tend to get annoyed with me. Here, it's kind of normal.

I second that, RaboKarabekian.

hahaha Alex, we own your school every time at academic bowl :(

Same here. I know a lot of people who think it is cool not to care about apps or your future in general.

I'm the exact same as all of you. We'll see who makes it in the end, tho.

Best of Luck To you All,

Jerod

whoa, people.. let's calm down. it's ugly to think we're superior because of it.

Similiar to what Alex said, most people in my school "don't care." i just wish they could gain an interest.

With all the ugly things out there to lower our self-confidence, let us think we're superior, Knavish!

Yeah, the people at my school are just there because they have to be. It's really quite disheartening, but really refreshing (though not always) to converse with you bright people.

Would anyone say that one of their reasons for applying to that really great college is simply to be around other intellects?

I think most kids at my school do care. I started talking about the insane math curve on the PSAT in class today and that got a lot of people worried. Then again, my class is pretty competitive, so maybe it's just us.

I definitely applied to my colleges because I wanted to be around intellectuals, because, let's face it, you could probably get professors who are just as good at a state school, but I don't want to be in college with the same kind of people I'm in high school with.

People think I'm obsessed about college too. Many kids at my school are only familiar with the huge state schools and sometimes, I offer unsolicited advice- especially to the kids who I think have the most potential and who are completely unaware of what's around them. For instance, in October, our school librarian was giving out a whole buncha college catalog and many of them were LACs. So, naturally, I told my peers (esp AP/Honors types) what they were and coughed out acceptance rates and other numbers. :-D

Yeah, I love CC too...

college is infinitely better than high school :) all you highly motivated people who feel stifled by high school (as i did) will have the best years of your life, most likely, in College, when you're surrounded with other people who are quite intelligent and who actually care about school and learning.

Weird. I think of CC as a return to high school and all the obsessed bastards I don't want to talk to. Funny how I keep coming back. I stopped reading most of the college threads though.
