A Christian told me gayness is a choice. So I'm choosing to be gay. What do I do now?

Aside from the obvious?

Be who you are and ignore that person. Any intelligent person knows it is not a choice. And btw there are many non-Christians who also believe being gay is a choice; ignorance comes in all forms.

Agree with takeitallin. Be the person YOU want to be, not what others tell you to be.

Also, not all Christians believe it’s a choice, just to throw that out there. The person you were talking to is either from the 1500s or completely ignorant.

Homosexuality is inherent in nature, whether amongst humans or animals. So take pride in your sexual orientation, and leave it at that.

“Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

Wait…why would someone from the 1500’s say that being gay is a choice? Someone from the 1500’s might tell you to buy an indulgence if you know what’s good for your “soul”. Or was I reading that wrong…?

Your not gay by choice, but at birth.

“novicehomosexual”

Lulz.

first reply:

“takeitallin”

I don’t understand what’s so horrible about being gay, that the only justification for being gay is that you can’t help it.

Say I choose to be gay right now; what’s so wrong about it that it’s a complete no-choose?

Nobody chooses to be straight or gay. It’s just the way you are biologically designed, and scientific research has shown that sexual orientation is based off of differences in brain structure.

Even though I am a Christian myself, I hate all of the backwards-thinking bible-bearing Christians. Homosexuality is not a sin because it is not a choice; that’s like saying that having blue eyes is a sin or that having freckles is a sin.

or they’d exorcise you

Although some homos do in fact choose, the majority of us are what we are by nature. Ignore that person and his/her comments. Even if homosexuality is a choice, I fail to see anything wrong with that too. Just be who you are.

Eat a burrito? Who cares what you do now. Live your life.

I think pretty much once the new generation takes over, the ones that are teens and kids now, some serious stuff will start changing. Young people are much more open-minded now. I think it stems from the fact that we were the divorce and communications generation. Makes us more realistic and careless and also more inter-connected and empathetic with others.
