Liiist. Callin you out. (Another Gay Thread)

I disagree with quite a few things that you said.

I'll give a quick introduction, why not?
I'm 15, gay male, and open. Sometimes people have to ask, others kinda just know, just depends. I am not really for gay parades, gay pride, etc. I think it's all kinda pointless.

About "encouragement to be gay", i think thats a bunch of bologna. I think, if guys encouraged girls to mess around with each other they would do it. There are girls today who say they are bi just because it seems like the new thing. THANK YOU TILA TEQUILA. This isn't fair to gay people at all. Do you really think that being gay is a choice?

Saudi Arabia has few gays, but so does Iran. It's a death penalty in both places. People risk it and get killed for it, why do you think that is?

If anyone believes being gay is a choice, from my experiences I think you're totally wrong. Let me post an article.

BBC NEWS | Health | Scans see 'gay brain differences'

Anyways, a question for all you CC people is how are gays treated at your school (To keep this high school life related). I mean, it depends. My class is split. Some guys don't really care, and think of me as a person, they might not hang out with me, but they still talk to me like I'm a normal guy. My girl friend ratio is much higher.

I had too many responses to the other thread, so I'd figure I'd start a new one.

Bottom line, sometimes I wish I could be straight. I've been ashamed of who I am for probably a few years now, and i honestly don't know why. I'm not severely hated on at school, but at times I feel like I am. It's not easier to go through the world gay -- and it's definitely got few benefits. You take the queer/ fag jokes from your parents every day and tell me how that's easier? I mean, I don't get why I was this way. But we all have to accept ourselves one day and realize that somethings are just meant to be and that you can't choose to go one way or the other.

Chris :)

^ I am pretty sure he does not think it is a choice. He used to, but he has changed. However, I may be wrong.

Bottom Line: Gays are an abominati....Lol, I could not even finish that. A girl told me that yesterday and I almost busted up. When I think abomination, Ithink a monster or something scary, not a group of "fabulous", limp-wristed, fairies dressed in drag at a Pride parade. :)

I don't think that being gay is a choice, but I do believe that society can dictate whether or not you act on your preference. Some just never openly admit to being gay and many others will even marry into a heterosexual relationship. I'm pretty sure it's damn near impossible to find a gay partner in Saudi Arabia or Iran.

So by "encouraging" people to be gay, I mean that we can make those people more happy and let all sorts of people try sodomy before choosing to overpopulate this earth.

Gay people at my school are treated like other people, but my school does have a lot of gay'/bi's.I think most of the bi's are fonny as **** but ya know.I think the only problems we've had with gays is 2 years ago my friend whose gay wore a short skirt and tank top to school.it was SHORT.well he got OSS for 10 days cuz it 'disrupted school hours' or some bull.then this year this boy,who loves to flaunt his gayness and is VERY flambouyant(sp) and wore weave down to his butt and it creeped some of the guys out lol.

I go to a highly preppy school in Australia which is highly conservative. Ludicrously conservative in fact. Teachers are split between Labor and Liberal (Democrats and Republicans respectively) but the students are 100% Liberal.

There was one guy who when incredibly drunk admitted to being gay and then went out to express his interests. He is absolutely ridiculed and ripped apart and the teachers act like he is a disgusting dead rat. Avoid at all costs but when you must you only reluctantly prod it (in this case defend it).

But I'm going to Phillips Academy Andover which is said to be more liberal :) which is great.

And to avoid the confusion Liberals in Australia are your Republicans (wierd I know...)

btw Liist you're very brave to not only confront this hugely controversial issue but at such a young age as well. Most people don't come out until after college years or never in some cases.

I'm perfectly straight. I just don't like how society and culture is so ****ed up.

If homosexuals are treated like heterosexuals, and if homosexuals are shown as something other than the flamboyant gay-pride guy, we would get along better.

The main issue I want to confront is overpopulation.

^ i agree with the statement about flamboyant gays, eughrrr

Also, I think it is hillarious how the conservative christians use the bible to condemn homosexuality. I am a christian, but I dont believe alot of the crap my church feeds me (I dont really go anymore cause its so corrupt). In the bible, there are over 50 instances where people are told what punishments are, or are actually punished for not being faithful to their spouse (in a heterosexual way). The only time homosexuality is mentioned is in leviticus (an ancient jewish law book that also condemns consumption of shell fish, pork, and proper procedures for sacrificing animals) where it says that "a man should not lay with another man like he lays with a woman". it says nothing about having homosexual thoughts, or being gay, and there is no punishment listed for "laying with a man".

and tom, what is that passage in the old testament next to? how much someone must pay you if they rape your daughter while she's engaged and is travelling out of the country with her husband. or what about the part about not wearing clothing with 2 kinds of weaved material? or planting your field with 2 kinds of seed?

thats prevalent.

^^ I agree too. I don't like them because they perpetuate the negative stigma that the straight middle Americans have against straight people.
there is no punishment listed for "laying with a man".
Uh, yeah. Death? (Leviticus 20:13) If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death.

But back to the original topic. No, gays aren't treated badly at my school. However, we do have an influx of people coming in from Detroit schools who are MUCH less open to the gay population. Most people however simply don't care.

are you gay, gypsyeyes?

^ I'm bi.

And I used to be Catholic.

To radionowhere, the posts just got flipflopped.

Obviously I don't agree with anything the Bible says regarding homosexuality. I just call people out when they claim that the Bible really doesn't want to put gays to death.

What I hate about the gay pride movement is that they are taking too much power and are making really stupid laws, especially all those dumb hate crime laws. If I wrong a gay person in any way, and I'm straight, I can easily be charged with a hate crime.

I've heard that in some states I could be charged with a hate crime by using the word "gay" for saying something is lame. I could say something as harmless as "Wow, that's gay" and then be prosecuted for a hate crime.

Although it was repealed in 2006, at one point Romans 1, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 was considered "hate literature" in Canada.

Such legislation is one reason why gays aren't quite in the mainstream yet.

LMAO to Canadian laws.

yeah gypsyeyes i was curious cause you were talking about being gay and then about your bf and i was just confused -- thats cc stalking at its best =]

i love that hate crime idea!!! it really bothers me when people say "thats so gay". i thought we were past that level of bigotry.

^^^^^^yes, that is true, but my point about no punishment was that because jesus came in and "fulfilled the covenant" there is no longer any punishment, aka, it doesnt really matter. This wasnt a theological forum so I didnt want to make it more complicated than necessary.

and radio, I dont think the govt should legislate stuff like that. What i say is my business even if it offends you, and you have no right to dictate what i say as legal or not, which it seems like you want to do.

who cares if you're gay. sure, there are going to be some morons who frown upon it, but what it all comes down to is that you should be yourself and nothing more, nothing less.

I can't think of any gay people that I know right now because they really don't stand out to me. It's just like asking how I treat the people I know who have brown hair. end of discussion.

if only that were the end of the discussion...

Hello Chris.

I am 17 (almost 18), straight, and a girl. No, I am not "religious". I have a very deep faith but I do not fall under any one general label. I am very conservative.

I have several gay and lesbian friends. I do not agree with their chosen lifestyle however, we respect each other and get along great.

About the famous quote: "Gay people are an abomination". I don't feel the people themselves are an abomination. Gay people can be good or bad just like heterosexual people. Yet, to me, the homosexual act (a guy with a guy or a girl with a girl) is an abomination.

Please fellow CCers, don't turn this into a "let's bash MetdethGNR fot thinking different" thread. I am not a bigot or discriminatory. I simply find the homosexual act tantamount to bestiality. It's unnatural. It shouldn't be happening. I can't help it- if I somehow see a guy with a guy it grosses me out beyond belief. Same thing when I see a girl with a girl.

Again, I do have several gay friends. When they came out, I approached them and told them that they know how I feel, I do not agree with homosexuality, I do think it is a choice, but that they are free and they are human and I will respect them and love them regardless.

Chris, the last thing you should ever do is feel ashamed of yourself. True, I personally, find the homosexual act abominable. But what I feel is not of concern to you (neither is anybody else!) because I am not a part of your life. Yes, I don't think anyone is born gay. I do feel it's a choice. But then again, I am not gay and you are. So if you feel that this is the way you are and this is the way you want to stay, please don't let what others say affect you too much. I cannot say "I understand" because I don't- the pressure must be immense.

Last thing, there's an American psychologist who claims he can turn a "gay" person into a "straight" person through a special therapy he has deviced. He has had several "success" patients to back his claim up.

I am not saying I believe this 100% and that all gay people should be sent to a psychologist. However, if that man has had some sort of success maybe we, as a society, should look at the gay issue from a nonpolarized perspective ("I think they are born!" / "I think they choose!") and take psychology into consideration.

Of course anal sex is unnatural, but times have changed. Humans are messing with nature in all different areas. Plus, who cares about what happens in the privacy of your own home?

Hell, we should support bestiality if overpopulation gets out of hand.

" I do think it is a choice"

You sound so very intelegent MetDethGNR so I don't understand why you think anyone would choose something that so much of society looks down upon.

Perhaps people like MetDeth who say it is a choice say so because they believe "God" created people and refuse to believe that God would create something that they find so repulsive. I can't think of any other reason why such apparently intelegent people would think that someone would choose to be something that is hated on soooooo much.
