Unfortunately, we had to have a medical withdrawal for my son this semester. The first full week of class, he came down with something like mono (we still don't have a diagnosis ---tons of tests, no answer yet) and he had to come home...to weak to walk to class or even drive home. We called housing and cancelled Friday, and just got back from moving his things out of his dorm room in East Quad. Met a mom and dad in the hall who were moving their son out of the room next door into off campus housing. So there are at least 2 individual bedrooms that became empty this weekend. Just wanted to give you all a heads up in case someone is looking to move. I don't know if they list them on UChoose, or how it's handled.

so sorry for your son’s illness.hope he gets diagnosed and on the road to feeling better soon.

Thanks, cathymee. The doctors at Thompson have been absolutely wonderful, even calling our home to check on him. Our son definitely wants to be at USC rather than languishing around the house. It was really sad to have to move his things back home this semester…but hopefully we’ll get a diagnosis and he will start to improve soon and will be back for Spring semester. Everyone in the registrar’s office, housing, etc. has been very helpful and encouraging to us.

By the way, just to calm anyone’s fears…he was tested for and did NOT have swine flu or the regular flu. None of his roommates are sick. Doctor thinks it’s most likely mono that didn’t show up on the quick test, so they’re doing some send-off test for mono.
