I have recently applied for the summer analyst position as a Sales & Trading analyst at Goldman Sachs. My question is what would be the day to day activities and responsibilities of a Sales analyst. In other words, i'm looking for an answer to the interview question "what do you expect your day to be like working in this division?"

The Bureau of Labor Statistics Has A Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 online. It contains job descriptions and typical activities for professions. You might search there to see if it helps you: [Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 Edition](http://www.bls.gov/oco/)

Other than that, try an internet search for a job description of the position. In fact, you might find even an old one online from Goldman.

It’s hard to describe a typical day, however, I’ll give you an idea in general. Most days consist of being on the phone with customers for most of the day, either executing with clients, updating them on market situations or pitching ideas. You’ll also be in communication with the traders and keeping up on anything that happens, that way you can give good information to customers and they trade with you. Salespeople might be negotiating with traders to see if they can do better levels for their clients to get a trade done, etc.

You might also be doing some research in order to do any of the above. In the end, everything you do is trying to improve relationships with customers and get them to trade with you.
