I know that for regular applicants it meant a rejection, but is it the same for deferred applicants also? I was deferred back in January and I just checked WA today and the "View Decision" link was up, and it said my decision would be arriving in the mail. Has anyone else who was deferred seen their decision online?

I was deferred back in Jan and checked the decision today...it said I was waitlisted along w/ everyone else on this forum pretty much. It seems like its good news if they said its coming in the mail.

This is just my two cents but...

When I was accepted I got a link that said "View Decision". When I clicked that link it took me to a page that told me I have been accepted, and then it allowed me to select one of two checkboxes. Either I accepted admission and I wanted to attend Michigan, or I didn't accept admission and therefore didn't want to attend.

The way I see it, (and I'm not trying to shatter anyone's hopes; please don't get me wrong) if it says that your decision will be arriving in the mail then most likely it is a rejection. I think this because if you have been accepted, you would have had more options to accept or decline your acceptance, like I did.

However, I have seen that many people have gotten waitlisted, and have yet to hear of anyone actually getting accepted. This may mean that they are just sending out all the acceptances in the mail, and they are not really rejecting anyone but rather waitlisting them.

I'm confusing myself now, but I just thought you guys would like to hear some new ideas...

yeah, i think its a rejection too, but no one has gotten a straight "congrats" yet, so i mean, it could be anything at this point...

but if they send their acceptances in the mail, i think its kinda dumb cuz they might as well post it online, u know?

It's killing me......I dunno what to think of this decision arriving in the mail. My friend was waitlisted and he found out online and I don't know of anyone rejected so far. I just want my decision, it's killing me.

Exactly. I mean, they went through the trouble of putting "a decision will be arriving in the mail" or "you have been waitlisted". They might as well have posted "congratulations, you have been accepted", especially since they took so long to make a decision and making people wait a few days for their mail to come in would just be like sprinkling salt on the wound.

Either way, their process of posting decisions on Wolverine Access is quite incongruous. Really, everyone should have a "View Decision" link that then gives the following decisions: "Accepted", "Not Accepted", "Waitlisted", or "Deferred".

Then again, who am I to criticize the decision-making procedures of a school that handles 20,000+ applications...

EDIT: In response to mojojojo69's post.

Nah, youre not shattering my hopes. Really I stopped caring whether or not Michigan would accept me 2 weeks ago, just because they've ****ed me off so much with their process. I just wanted to know so I could tell UIUC that I'm going there

lespaul, have u tried calling, just call and ask, they should let u know!!

haha lespaulman, UIUC ENG all the way!!!

I think it means they're going to mail you the decision.

Drew, that was a very unneccesary post. We want to know what kind of a decision that is since people are hearing of their waitlist online. I just want to know if it can be either an acceptance or rejection or just a rejection.

i was accepted about a month ago and my checking process was the same as ALI. good luck to you all.

bump, anyone get anything in the mail?

ps. anyone that got this on their WA post your stats!! les paul, what are your stats?

and guapocarlos, are u a URM?

SAT: 720 Math, 730 Reading, 690 Writing
GPA: 3.3 at a highly competitive school.

I think my GPA has been the biggest factor for me when it comes to not getting into colleges, but whatever, I'm pretty satisfied with UIUC Engineering. Looks like Pangiummy is too.

well, ur sat is really good, who knows!! is your gpa unweight or weight?

My GPA is weighted, which is pretty bad.

Ah man, this message just came up on the WA I guess that means I’m probably rejected as a transfer. Has anyone gotten this message and actually been accepted? It does seem pointless to accept you like this, because you’ll have to link to something online to accept or not…

Alright let me clear this up.

1) Accepted: View Decision—> Congrats, you have admitted…blah blah.

2) Deferred/Rejected: Decision coming by mail.

3) Waitlisted: View Decision—> Sorry sorry…We offer you a chance on our waiting list, and you get an option of accepting or declining.

Trust me, I’ve seen all the options.

(Applied senior year, deferred, waitlisted, rejected, applied freshman year in college, accepted).

Yeah Arcade, I got accepted into LSA last week as a transfer. View decision will say congratulations you have been admitted…Then you have a video link that gives you more congrats.

If only…
