"A decision will be arriving in the mail"

Yeah, so I got the letter in the mail today…Flat out rejected. I thought I would probably be waitlisted. I had really forgot about Michigan, it was too expensive, and I had already gotten into a better (at least to me) school.

How much weight does Michigan place on GPA compared to other top publics? Because I think that’s what did it for me.

@why am i here, lol, maybe we can’t blame you for that statement in the rec, but you deserve to get rejected because of the recommender’s arrogance. If i were the AO, i’d rej you as well.

psycheycho: Was there any decision on WA before you got that letter? I wouldn’t want a letter to show up unexpectedly.

did anyone who got “a decision will be arriving in the mail” actually get their decision yet? i havent check the mail in days haha i dont really care about umich at this point the have the worst admissions process of any rolling school ive seen but i was just wondering when i should start checking…

I still have “Application Status” as the only link available. This is kinda driving me crazy…Sent my app in early and got deferred back in December. Do you think there will still be acceptances at the point? Or just more letters with rejection?

i think there will still be some acceptances…but not many…

I got a rejection in the mail last week for my college transfer to the University of Michigan as a sophomore,. Personally, I feel it was a crude way of sending all rejects in he mail – I would of highly preferred it online. I didn’t browse these forums last week so the “a decision will be arriving in the mail” statement on the site kept me in hard suspense.

I thought I wrote a good application (imo I had pretty good essays), and don’t see why I couldn’t of been at least put on a waitlist as they specifically mentioned that the issue was with the seating limitations, and they even noted my impressive academic work last semester in college (Wayne State University).

I worked and am working hard during college at the moment(3.84 last semester and looking at a 3.7 for this semester), but I guess the not-so-great high school grade record of mine will always follow (3.1 overall GPA and 24 ACT) .

Anyone know why they couldn’t at least waitlist instead if seating is an issue? Sorry I honestly didnt feel like making a new thread just for one question related to this thread title.

I feel for you guys… I haven’t heard anything yet but I’ll keep ya’ll posted

I dont have the "“A decision will be arriving in the mail” message on wolverine access. Does this mean that I can still be admitted? If so, when will I finally find out?

hey guys, where would you find “a decision will be waiting in the mail”? would it appear when you click application status? right now, mine says “Available links will vary based on application”. what does that mean?

^it means that as of now, they don’t currently have a decision for you. depending on what happens (acceptance, rejection, waitlist), the appropiate link will then be shown

When I log into Wolvervine Access (for now atleast) I still see nothing, but “Check Application Status”. I still got nothing in the mail today. I just got to keep on waiting, but again, I really think Michigan should change their admissions process, waiting this long after being deferred in December is kind of ridiculous.

****** Where would it say “a decision will be arriving in the mail”? A million people have asked and no one has answered lol.

on wolverine access when you click on application status if they have made a decision there will be a view decision button. once you click it it will either say that you are accepted or that a decision will be arriving in the mail meaning you were waitlisted/rejected.
and i agree the thought of having to wait another 10 days to get a decision is crazy!

Thank you chocoblow59, I just checked it again to make sure and no “View Decision” button there yet. Just “View Application Data” and “View Credentials”.

Same with me, IGotFiveOnIt

Wow… after following this forum for a little over a year now, I have never seen people get flat out rejected. I know this may hurt, but do some of you mine posting your stats?

It would be nice if we could have something to point to the next round of applicants who often wonder if their stats are good enough. Maybe start another thread?

@ Ahmedkhokar, that is weird. Even though Virginia is much harder to get into than Michigan, I would of imagined that if you were good enough to get into Michigan out of state, you would definitely be good enough to get into Virginia instate. At least you got into the better school  that is unless money is an issue…

@ Sneakerhead91. During the transfer process, Michigan gives priority to junior level applicants. When you apply for junior status, your high school transcript will matter less (if at all). I would know, I did god awful in high school (I am talking about gpa less than 2.0), but was able to get into Michigan engineering and LSA from an out of state community college. Plus LSA honors, so don’t give up hope. Try again next year and you should be fine.

^^i agree with wolfpackfan

my gpa was only a little higher(3.8_ but my h.s gpa was way lower. I did have a higher act tho. Either way, it flat out says on their website they prefer junior level transfers. try again next year while maintaining your gpa. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

RageRoolz, are you out of state or instate?

Agreed with WolfPackfan, this is the first time I’ve heard about rejection. I was under the assumption that Michigan waitlisted everyone else, at least that’s what I’ve gathered from CC.
