A few non-HYPS schools?

Hi! I'm a senior and I'm looking for a little feedback on a few schools I am applying to:
Boston University
College of William and Mary (twin sister applied ED and was accepted, our stats are very similar; also did an interview that went well)
University of Miami (applied EA, have met with an admissions officer, though not the one for my region)

Gender - Female
Race - Caucasian
State - VA

Weighted GPA - 4.2
Unweighted GPA - school doesn't report

National Honor Society: Since 11th grade

Essay: About my experience with karate (I practically live at my dojo!), I thought it was pretty good

Thanks for your time!

Heyhey, also willing to chance back :D

You should get into those schools. If they accepted your sister ED at W & M, they’ll be pressured into accepting you.

For Miami and BU, you’ll probably get in. You have good grades/scores, and you come from a fairly competitive region.

For W&M, you’re in-state and have good numbers/extracurriculars. I don’t see why they shouldn’t let you in.

GOOD LUCK!

I think that you have a very good chance at it. However, that being said, how much time do you spend with the for life program? Because the sense that I’m getting is that your two main ec’s are that and karate.

Also, what was your other essay about if your main one was on karate?

I spend an enormous amount of time on FCCLA - I help organize biweekly chapter meetings, am competing in STAR events (FCCLA’s nationwide competitive events), mentor new members through the STAR event process, come up with community service projects for the chapter, and put together fundraisers. There’s other little stuff too, but that’s just the important parts. Basically, when I’m not at the dojo, I’m in the FCCLA room! So yes, karate and FCCLA are my two main EC’s.

W&M’s supplement doesn’t have to be an essay, so I’m putting together a little creative ensemble that represents me (my experience living abroad my entire life, my values, etc.). My BU essay answered the ‘global environment and its importance to you’ question and I drew from my traveling lifestyle, so it was very heartfelt. Miami didn’t have an optional essay.

Ok, that makes sense. Yeah, I think that you have a very strong chance at all three of these schools. with your strong test scores, great grades, and national-level ec’s, I can only assume that these colleges would reject you only if you have bad essays or a skeleton in the closet (like a gross misdemeanor). I don’t want to get your hopes up just in case I’m wrong though, keep in mind that that’s just my honest estimate.

Thanks for the responses so far!

Anyone else?
