A few (probably dumb) questions, but I'd like to ask)

I'm a High School Senior in my last semester now living in Pennsylvania and I've applied to 6 community colleges in the state of New York with On-Campus Housing(all of which are upstate because I don't want to pay obscene amounts of money to attend one in or right by the city) because I want to become certified in a trade or a profession (I'm stuck between Human Resources and a few hands-on things.. I have a LOT of thinking to do)

I asked a few friends and they've told me that this is a wonderful idea because it gets me experience in that state, gets me certified, and it's a WONDERFUL opportunity. Anyhow, my grades in High School were pretty good.. high C's at the lowest, low A's, high B's.. but in all of my Math Classes, I've barely gotten by which is a main reason why I wouldn't be able to get into a 4 year school right away.. I'm GREAT at regular math, but not so much Algebra.

Now on to the most likely stupid questions.

Is this a good idea for personal growth and also to get certified in the state of New York?

Should I get into all 6 of them? I'm strangely worried about getting denied by all 6 for some reason.. so much so that I also included an essay inside the envelopes when I had the transcripts sent out a little while back.

Are there more than these six? I applied to the following:

Herkimer County Community College
Sullivan County Community College
Mohawk Valley Community College
Genesee Community College
Onondaga Community College
Niagara County Community College

I'm also afraid of finding employment after college in Queens upon graduation(I have an uncle who'll be living there and I love the city more than you would believe anyway, so that's why I'd like to go there), so is it a good idea to work upstate for a year or more and then transfer down there?

Should I be as worried as I am about finding employment? I like Human Resources, Management, anything hands-on, really because I love repairing things.. it makes me feel accomplished and proud for some reason.
