Hi there,

My daughter is a Junior in HS and she is looking at Newhouse.

Freshman and Sophmore she has taken Honor's for English, Science and Social studies and has added Honor's Math to those classes this year so that she is taking 4 Honor's classes this year.

Will taking Honor's and not AP classes hurt her? There are some, but not tons at her school, but she has not taken any AP's. She was going to take a college course for Pschycology this year, but my husband and I talked her out of it because we didn't think it would transfer or help her. Now that I've been helping her look at college's and things, I realize I should have bucked up and payed the money for her to go. This was the reason we talked her out of the College Class.

Also, she doesn't work because she does cheerleading that takes up most of her time. I've seen that most people work. Will this hurt her? She has babysat for her brother in the summer, we pay her and she also babysits for several other people too. Can you put those on the application or does that look silly?

For EC's she has Varisty Football Cheerleading, Varsity Basketball/Competition Cheerleading. This is her 2nd year on her school newspaper and she is hoping to get Editor. She has done gymanstics for many years to go along with her cheerleading. Student Council (there were no presidents, etc.) and we aren't sure that there is student council for her to join this year because the two teachers retired that were running it. No one has heard anything this year about it.

Her GPA is 3.6 UW and 3.9 Weighted as of the end of her Sophmore year. She is in the 79% of her class out of 400 (at least that is what it looked like from the transcript she picked up).

She hasn't taken her SAT's or ACT's yet, but I am going to have her take the practice SAT test.

Thanks for answering my questions about the Honors and work.
