hi i'm going into my senior year of high school and i'm wondering is stony brook a good school for someone like me who's more "right brain" oriented as i'm more inclined toward english and history as subjects. I know that stony brook is a big math and science school so i'm wondering if i'm looking about the wrong college lol. also what languages do they offer and do they offer study abroad to japan and other countries since i would like to learn japanese and go to japan with it. thanks in advance!

Go to their website and see what study abroad opportunities and languages they offer.

I applied there for political science (my guidance counselor told me they had a better reputation that Albany overall, so that made my choice) and I was actually offered a small merit scholarship. I didn’t accept their offer (went to Binghamton instead), but hey, if your stats are good enough you might get some money.

I just looked at Stony Brook recently, and I don’t know if their exchange program goes to Japan, but if you’re interested in Japanese culture or Asian culture in general, you should visit and go to the Wang Center. It’s probably the coolest thing on SB campus, and the Jasmine restaurant inside has amazing food!

Stony Brook offers a wide array of modern languages, including Japanese (you can minor in Japanese studies if you want). Also, from their website:
