<p>You are going to need a text book more times than not. Only in one of my classes so far out of 8 have I been able to not use a book. Depends on your major, but you will need at least some textbooks. The coops buy back prices are pretty bad, I wouldn't buy books at the coop anymore.</p>
<p>None of my teachers require us to have text books in class, but they all assign readings from the text book almost every night, which makes up the bulk of homework. I have a notebook for every class that I use to take notes on the lectures, this works very well for me. Some of the other students bring laptops to take notes on, that seems like more of a pain than it's worth to me, but it does allow you to pass some time in the boring classes by surfing the web.</p>
<p>I have no idea if the coop buys books back at a good price, although they do return 10% of the money you spend there back to you every quarter or semester (not sure which one). But they have the books for each class arranged so it's easy to find the right books. And it appears to me that the used books are a pretty good deal. Just try to avoid buyng new books.</p>

<p>hey thanks for the replies guys. But yea, I mean literally bringing the books to class. I'll buy all the books I need..just wanted to make sure whether or not I needed to carry them everywhere.</p>
<p>that depends heavily upon the class. i'm taking a self-paced class currently that requires me to take my book everywhere to study/take-tests/keep up. but it's largely the only book i've ever had to carry with me around campus.</p>
<p>Oh I never brought my text book to class, unless I felt like doing homework in class.</p>
