A few questions.... need help

I’m a high school junior going into my senior year after this summer. I just had a few questions about Pitt that I hope someone could answer.

  1. What are my chances on getting into Pitt Swanson? 3.8-3.9 GPA, 4.8 Weighted GPA 28 ACT (taking SAT June 6) 6 AP by graduation, the rest all honors/CHS NHS Member, Science Honors Society member Varsity letter in two sports In state
  2. When can you first apply for admission?
  3. Does applying ASAP help your chances of getting in?

Thanks for your help!

I am not sure what the minimum admission criteria for Swanson is. But I would study hard for the ACT retake next month. GPA looks good. Did you take all three sciences Bio, Chem and Physics? Are your math and physics grades strong?

I have taken Honors Bio, Honors Chem, and AP Chem up to this point. I am taking AP Bio and Honors Physics next year. I have yet to get a B in a math/science course for a final grade.

Thanks

Since you are taking physics next year you can mention this on your Pitt application. It will ask what senior courses you are taking. They might ask you to send first quarter or semester grades. Are you taking AP Calc next year?
What discipline of engineering are you interested in?

I’m currently not positive on which engineering field I want to get into. That’s what I’m hoping to figure out this summer. I am taking AP Calc AB and CHS Stat next year as well.

That’s ok. Oh and I would apply in August/September.

@AJSH2P, Our application for Fall 2016 will open up later this summer. It would be great for you to apply earlier in the fall, but I would also encourage you not to rush your application just for the sake of getting it in as early as possible. Take your time and make sure you are putting your best foot forward on your application.

In the meantime, have a great summer!
