A few questions

Hi everyone! I just have a few quick questions about Chapman, and I would appreciate any answers you guys have! My first question is about the difficulty of getting in from OOS. I feel like most Chapman students are from California, and I haven’t found anything on difficulty from getting in from OOS (specifically the midwest.) I have a 3.6 UW/3.8 W and a 27 on my ACT (30 super score), applying for political science/peace studies. Also, is Chapman a very conservative school? I fall very left on the political spectrum- will it be hard to find like minded individuals? Last question- is greek life big at Chapman? If I don’t join a sorority, will it be hard to make friends?

Any answers you have would be greatly appreciated  thank you!

Hi! I had roughly a 3.6 UW and got in Early Action. I’m from Pennsylvania and personally believe being OOS helps your app stand out.

I’m a current freshman and I don’t think being OOS will change anything! I know lots of people from out of state (and out of country international students). Your GPA and ACT look promising!

As for the political standing—I fall on the left side too, and I haven’t had any troubles. Although it’s in Orange County, most of the students aren’t from OC and share your views. Side note: Orange County voted blue in this election for the first time in many, many years! Anyway, after the election, students were protesting in our piazza shouting “Not my president” and I saw “Nasty Woman” posters in people’s dorms across campus. Granted, I have come across students who lean on the right side but it hasn’t been a problem for me. You definitely won’t have a hard time finding like minded individuals, and it’s okay to be friends with people who think differently than you, as long as everyone is being respectful :).

I’m not in a sorority (rush isn’t until spring semester) and I don’t plan on joining one. Greek life is big on campus, but it’s not inhibiting. You can participate in some of the events that they throw even if you aren’t part of the sorority or fraternity. It’s super nice that sorority rush isn’t until second semester so everyone has a fair chance at making friends, and you can see if joining Greek life is right for you or not. Most of the friends I’ve made are rushing next semester, but I’m confident that we will remain friends and hang out. There are soooo many clubs and organizations on campus that aren’t Greek-affiliated! Join some and meet your people
