A few questions...

Hi, nice to meet everyone here. For the past few weeks I've been watching this board because of my crazy interest in Tufts, but I just decided to actually sign up today so I could ask a few questions.

Can a regular applicant still get an interview even if he/she submits the application right around the deadline date (Jan 1st), or would that be too late?

I saw on another thread that Dan said that some students send in specific letters detailing why they chose certain courses in order to clear up any confusion, or specific details about some courses. For example, I am applying as an IR major - but I didn't take any government APs last year, and am taking them this year. Is it possible for my counselor to send in a letter explaining that I couldn't take them last year because they were only for seniors? Also, this letter would function to explain why I am not applying ED even though I am extremely interested in Tufts.

Also, would it hurt me that there are PLENTY of people applying from my school to Tufts? This is another reason why I want to send in that extra letter -- I really want the Tufts representative to know that I very much want to go to the school.

Thanks for your time!

Well, yes -- that is one of the functions of the guidance counselor's letter, to explain the course discrepancies that you might have.

If you would like to you can attach a letter, but if your counselor does so it dosn't matter.

I don't know how Tufts works in terms of how many students they accept. I don't know if it matters at all how many students apply from each school, if it matters at all. It will for a great number of schools, but I don't know about Tufts.

Your interview is all dependent on if they have interviewers available in your area. If they have someone who can - they will, regardless of when you hand it in because I am presuming that most will hand in their app a few days before, January 1 even in some cases.

abkid is most astute, your counselor can talk about those curricular pieces in their letter. And if Tufts is a school to which you feel particularly connected, you're always welcome to e-mail the admissions rep for your area to tell us that yourself.

Cough cough Admissions Officers by State and World Region

What? How did that link get there?

Yes, I concede - abkid is most certainly astute.

Thanks so much Dan & abkid! I hope to see you soon, when I visit Tufts.
