a-g for transfer

Hello, i've been lurking around the fourms for about a month but now i have a question myself!
For a transfer student from a cc to a uc, do i need to complete the language other than english? I failed my spanish class in highschool and would rather not waste time on it. I plan to do a tag agreement if that matters. If not could i take a test because i already know farsi at a competent level.

Yea, thanks!

I’m pretty sure almost every major besides Engineering requires foreign language.

Technically, there’s no language requirement for transfer admission to any UC. But if you want to complete IGETC(Which is one way to complete UC General Ed requirements), then you must complete the foreign language requirement.

I suggest that you talk about this with your counselor.

^Haas at UCB requires foreign language.

@bomerr?

What? That’s BS, lol

Ok thanks guys.
Ill go talk to my counsler because i remember at orientation they said somthing about requiring a-g completed to transfer, but was not sure after googling it since no one seems to talk about it.

a-g? That sounds like the general education requirement that freshman applicants must meet, not transfers. Jesus Christ, some counselors can really suck at their jobs, lol

Don’t worry about that stuff. Just worry about doing your general education requirement, iehter through IGETC, or through satisfying general education that is specific to the UCs.

High school a-g course work is irrelevant for transfer to UC (or CSU) as a junior (not sure if any campus allows sophomore level transfers any more, but if they do, they will consider high school records).

However, many divisions at many campuses do require foreign language either for transfer admission, or for graduation.
