I am slightly confused with UCSD's A-G course Requirements. Do all my high school courses that I have taken need to be approved? I have asked around in my guidance department, but no one has heard much about these requirements/approval process - which is strange considering the fact that students from my high school have gone to UCLA, UC Berkley, and UCSD (recently).

no, there are plenty of classes that don’t fall under those requirements, and there’s no problem with taking them. (i took yearbook for a few years, which didn’t count.) but if you’re short on the classes that ARE needed to attend UCSD, then you have a problem on your hands.

also, i’m rather concerned your HS guidance counselors have no idea what they are. are they new in their positions???

Are you from another state - not from California? This could be why your counselors do not know about these requirements. Go to: [University of California - Counselors](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/educators/counselors/adminfo/freshman/advising/admission_reqs.html)
for information on non-resident admissions requirements.

well, my guidance counselor/department are very good, but it is located on the other side of the nation, so i mean that’s probably on of the reasons.

but for example, lets say i take AP Chemistry/physics/biology and then a variety of math courses, etc…how do i get them approved? any ideas?

[University of California - a-g Guide](http://www.ucop.edu/a-gGuide/ag/a-g/a-g_reqs.html)

but my gut feeling is that if your class was thorough enough to net you a passing grade on the AP exam, you won’t have to worry too much.
