I was wondering...does being a female applying to Stern give any advantage in the admissions process? I don't know the gender statistics for how many applicants there are for Stern each year and the percentage of male/female matriculants. Any ideas?

i think it does..........i remember seeing somewhere that there are more guys than girls in stern....something like 60/40

Well, hoping they want to even things out, those numbers will help me out :)

I just checked the Stern website and it says 36% of their MBA students are female. Wouldn't you guys presume the undergraduate statistics are about the same? I know women have long been underrepresented in the field of business and am wondering if there really is an advantage here. Everybody else on here applying to Stern seems to be a guy!

No...not so many women get MBA degrees. By that time they are married and confined to raise children at homes. :) joking.

but I really think MBA and undergraduate are different.

I've never heard of gender influencing an admissions decision. I would assume that the reason there are less females at Stern is because there are less female applicants. The percent of each gender accepted probably reflects the amount of applications recieved for that gender.

I dont think they would care about gender. The NYU as a whole has 61% females, so Sterns "evening" things out would make the gender gap even greater towards girl.

mm good point...

kiki, with your stats you really shouldn't be worried about being accepted.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, UnrealFire...I hope it's true. I just want to go to NYU so badly!
