I've seen statistics where it's almsot 60% to 40% with girls far outnumbering guys. Does anybody know the reasoning behind this? And does it have to do with Tisch perhaps?

Who says there's any reasoning at all? Even if you assume Tisch is largely female, I could just as easily argue that Stern is largely male, thus negating the two effects.

A 60/40 split is not unusual these days. Most colleges get more female applicants than male, and they have higher qualifications. Some schools lower their standards for males in order to create a balance.

It's actually more like a 7:2 ratio (girls to straight men).

firewalker's just bitter. :P We've got people of all identities and persuasions on campus. The straight-girl:straight-guy ratio is nowhere near as bad as that. It's no worse than 5:3.

who said 7:2 is bad
the more gay guys at nyu
the better chance of finding a girl that doesnt have a boyfriend, which is good for heterosexuals like me:)

yeah but think about it...you live in NYC...there are millions of boys and girls everywhere...not to mention all the other colleges in NYC...don't worry about the NYU ratio :)

I'm a guy. Why would I be bitter about the 7:2 ratio?

Sorry, I spoke too quickly. I just remembered you complaining earlier, so I was like, "Ding-ding, he's bitter about something!" :)

Congratulations.

To all prospective males applying:

Don't let the 7:2 ratio fool you: the girls here are impossible. Their Fendi and Coach bags equip them with a false sense of self-confidence, bordering on neuroticism.

Well, from what I've heard from a friend it's much tougher being a girl. 61% female to 39% male, and there are a handful of gay guys as well, so I think it would be tougher for the ladies like myself.

Are you kidding me? My doors are open any day. Why are girls worried/complaining? No excuses ;)
