I'm thinking of trying for Yale as a reach, so do you guys think that I have a chance over there?
I'd really like to go to JHU, so is that realistic?

wohh!! with those stats you have more than a decent chance at JHU.
But I think remember one my frens saying that JHU isnt as generous to int, students as it used to be. So you better check on the fin. aid there.

And I wont be surprised if you get accpeted even at Yale.

you have great stats...especially your ECs. you said you are eastern european, where exactly are you from?
btw...if you want to go to Yale definetely apply ED. Yale's need-blind for intls so you stand an even larger chance. good luck ;)

I bet you're from Russia or another former Soviet republic :) I agree with Lakshmi - you should apply to Yale EA (they don't have ED) and JH is maybe a match. Best of luck!

Thanx alot guys! :) I don't think I'll be applying for ed, but anyway...
I' m from Serbia and no one from my county is applying for JHU, as far as I know, so that's cool... but there is one guy applying for Yale and he has science olympiad and beter stats, i think, so wouldn't count on it... As they usually admit one person from our country, rarely more.
Are there any Bulgarians applying for top schools?

wow! you're awesome! i think you definetly have a shot at yale! good luck!!

what was the volunteering in france? i'm just wondering, it sounds cool :D

Yup you have a great chance at JHU! You are far more qualified than me and jhu's my firstie :( so in a way, you are my competition grrrrrrrrrrr lol. Are you doing JHU ED?

omg you have a 5.0/5.0 gpa but you are only in the top 10%???!!!!! Your school must be filthy competitive
oh unless you mean that your school is top 10% in your country?

I think there are quite a few people applying from Bulgaria, am i right? I remember last year (or the year before that?) I remember all these people saying that they are bulgarians..

Hey for your volunteering, was that in your school break or during school time? I have a chance to volunteer with this organisation, in India but it takes place in March, which is straight bang middle of my first term.. and so my parents are very hesistant to let me go..

Serbia? So you're a neighbor? :)

Last year there was a Bulgarian who got accepted at Harvard, Princeton and Yale (mariela_86, she chose Yale and says she LOVES that place), a few guys got accepted at Northwestern, a girl at Princeton (she's from my city), another guy from my city who got into Harvard EA but he's not a CCer. There are many more but that's what I know for sure.

So I think If the adcoms like you, they won't reject you just because there's another guy from your country who has better stats. One more doesn't make a big difference, right? :)

that's true. last year 7 Romanians were admitted to Princeton. so don't worry much about it! if adcoms like you, you will definetely be admitted.

there has always been this myth in my school that adcoms dont accept more than one international student from the same school........anyone know how true that is???

well, I was reffering before to Princeton and so I am now. So, there are 2 highschool clssmates from Romania in the class of 2009. I don't know how true is what you are saying considering my example. I mean, if 2 people from the same school are better qualified than a third person from another school I don't see what's the point of admitting the third person instead of one of the first 2 just because he's from another school. my opinion.

to dashella: you have a decent chance at Yale...but you know it is Yale and the competition is fierce...also don't worry about the other guy. if the adcoms like you, they'll take you. if they like both of you, they'll take both. there is no one from Serbia in the class of 2009, so give it a shot. it is definitely worth it. Yale rocks!!!

About JHU, it is a great school, but they are very very stingy with the fin aid, unless they have changed their policy.

Good Luck to all of you guys, and if any of you has any questions, you know what to do.

And dashella - I hope I'll be able to welcome you to campus next fall!!!
