Can somebody tell me what exactly is JHU looking for and what to they value the most (like sats, gpa, ec's and that kind of stuff...)?
Is it good for internationals?

I'd say you'd have a decent shot as a US citizen, but it's hard to tell since you're an international. Your stats look fine, but most universities aren't need-blind for internationals, so applying for FA will hurt you. Also, internationals applying for aid can't apply ED. :/

Quote JHU:
Is there financial assistance for international applicants?

We offer need and merit based financial assistance to international applicants. Both types of assistance are limited. If you are dependent on receiving assistance to attend Hopkins, you should not apply under the Early Decision option, as merit awards are not made until March.

It just means that they do not recommend you to bind to the school if you need FA because they can't really meet all the needs.

Anyone agree?

I'm not sure. Many schools specifically state internationals with FA cannot apply under ED, so I just assumed that's what it meant. However, if JHU says they "should not" apply under ED, I'd say that's a pretty good hint not to.

Typically, international students who apply ED and need financial aid, are deferred into the regular decision applicant pool. Decisions about merit based scholarships and the rare aid packages JHU offers to select int'l students are not made until the regular decision process.

Hope that clarifies it.
