We visited Lehigh last spring and my daughter liked it very much. She wants to go into engineering, thought the program was great and the school was beautiful.

She is not a drinker or a kid who parties much at all. She's studious - although fun in her own way. She's in an a cappella group and is active in her school's drama and musical theater programs. She'd like to keep singing in college, although only in an extra-curricular fashion.

Is this a campus community where she can find peers? She's a little afraid that Lehigh may be heavy on the "frat bro party scene" and that she won't find her own niche.

Lehigh has a very active substance free community called CHOICE. My son is also a non drinker majoring in Bioengineering. He studies a fair amount and has a lot of fun! The CHOICE community has non substance housing available for all grades and there is an active team of students who plan events several times a week. Some centered around meals, some around sports, games, trip, concerts etc…

She could get acquainted with them by joining the Facebook page - search for Lehigh CHOICE There she can ask any questions and kind of see the different things they do.

My son lived in CHOICE housing freshaman year, loved it - had a great floor - not a group of social outcasts as he feared - all handsome, well rounded, fun, friendly young men. This year he lives in Taylor which is not a CHOICE dorm, but he has such a strong network of friends from last year, he is doing something virtually every night.

They have fanatastic music programs, a great acappella group, open mic nights etc…

It was a fear of my son’s also, but he has never regreted his decision! He loves the school and all of the kids, even those who drink Lehigh is a place where you can be yourself and be accepted for who you are. He has never been looked down upon because he does not drink and often goes to parties to see his friends, just does not drink.

i’m a freshman at Lehigh in one of the CHOICE dorms and i must say, its so much of fun. And we(Choice) dont get looked down upon. Its clean fun ;)

People on campus are friendly and the campus has a warm and friendly environment. There’s always something going-on in campus to do. Also no one pressures you to drink.
As an international, even I had a fear of being excluded but i found the campus more welcoming. Interesting thing is, so far I have more upperclassmen friends than freshman. Upperclassmen are welcoming and the Gryphons really help us get engaged.
My Gryphon is a great guy and he’s really helpful, i mean it.
He’s also in one of the a cappella group, Melismatics.

Lehigh is so much of fun. Its been just my first one month here, and I’m deeply in love with this college. Lehigh has something for everyone. Your daughter will DEFINITELY find her niche.

i’m a freshman at lehigh and i’m very involved in the vocal music program/scene on campus. it’s my favorite thing about lehigh. your daughter sounds a lot like me, and has the same concerns that i had coming into lehigh about the social scene. let me know if you have any questions :)
